The Ministry of Education and Sports (MES), is a cabinet-level ministry of Uganda. It is mandated "to provide technical support, guide, coordinate, regulate and promote quality education, training and sports to all persons in Uganda for national integration, development and individual advancement", according to the website of the ministry. [1]
The headquarters of the ministry are located in Embassy House, on King George VI Way, at the corner with Parliament Avenue, in the Central Division of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. [2] The coordinates of the ministry headquarters are:0°18'50.0"N, 32°35'15.0"E (Latitude:0.313889; Longitude:32.587500). [3]
The ministry is overseen by a cabinet minister, currently Janet Museveni, since 6 June 2016. [4] She is assisted by three ministers of state; Joyce Moriku Kaducu serves as Minister of State for Primary Education, [5] John Chrysestom Muyingo serves as Minister of State for Secondary Education, [5] and Peter Ogwang serves as Minister of State for sports. [6]
Administratively, the ministry is divided into three directorates: (a) Directorate of Education Standards, [7] (b) Directorate of Basic and Secondary Education, [8] and (c) Directorate of Higher, Technical and Vocational Education and Training. [9]
The ministry is further subdivided into the following departments: (1) Finance and Administration, [10] (2) Department of Education Planning, [11] (3) Department of Pre-Primary and Primary Education, [12] (4) Department of Secondary Education, [13] (5) Department of Higher Education, [14] (6) Department of Private Schools and Institutions, [15] (7) Department of Teacher Education, [16] (8) Department of Special Needs and Inclusive Education, [17] (9) Department of Business, Technical and Vocational Education, [18] (10) Department of Guidance and Counselling, [19] (11) Department of Physical Education and Sports, [20] (12) HIV/AIDS Unit [21] and (13) Gender Unit. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, also Ministry of Energy, Oil and Mineral Development is one of the governmental bodies of Uganda. The ministry has the function of developing and implementing policies related to electricity, minerals, petroleum and petroleum products. The ministry is part of the national cabinet and is headed by a cabinet minister. The current Cabinet Minister of Energy is [Hon. Ruth Ssentamu Nankabirwa].
Syda Namirembe Bbumba is a Ugandan accountant, politician and banker. She served in the Cabinet of Uganda as Minister of Energy and Minerals from 2002 to 2006, Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Development from 2006 to 2008, Minister of Finance from 2009 to 2011, and Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Development again from 2011 to 2012. She was also the elected Member of Parliament for Nakaseke County North, Nakaseke District She was the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on National Economy and also Chairperson of the Parliamentary Islamic Banking Forum. She was Sub-Saharan Africa's representative to the OIC Women Advisory Panel.
Janat Balunzi Mukwaya is a politician and former Major in the military of Uganda. Currently she is a Senior Presidential Advisor Before that, she previously served as the Minister for General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister from 16 February 2009 until 27 May 2011. the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Affairs from 6 June 2016 until December 2019. Minister of Trade and Industry from June 2006 until February 2009. In May 2011, she temporarily retired from politics and was replaced in the cabinet by Kiddu Makubuya. She also served as the elected member of Parliament for Mukono South Constituency in Mukono District, from 2006 until her retirement in 2011.

Wilson Muruli Mukasa is a Ugandan politician. He has been Cabinet Minister of Public Service in the Ugandan Cabinet since 6 June 2016. He has previously served as Cabinet Minister of Gender and Social Issues from 1 March 2015, until 6 June 2016. Previously he served as Minister of Security from 27 May 2011 until 1 March 2015. Muruli Mukasa also serves as the Member of Parliament for Budyebo County in Nakasongola District.

Molly Nawe Kamukama, commonly known as Molly Kamukama, is a Ugandan politician and management professional, who served as the State Minister for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President, in the Cabinet of Uganda from 14 December 2019 to June 2021 when she was replaced by Peter Ogwang.
Peter Ogwang is a Ugandan politician. He is the current Minister of State for Sports in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 22 July 2022, replacing Denis Obua. Previously, he was the State Minister for Economic Monitoring and had earlier served as the State Minister for Information, Communication, ICT and National Guidance. He is also the elected Member of Parliament for Usuk County in Katakwi District, in the 10th Parliament (2016-2021).
Denis Hamson Obua, is a Ugandan politician, who serves as the Government Chief Whip in the Parliament of Uganda, a position he was appointed to on 21st July 2022. The office was officially handed over to him on 16th August 2022. He previously served as Minister of State for Sports, in the Cabinet of Uganda, effective 14 December 2019. He also concurrently serves as the incumbent Member of Parliament representing Ajuri County, Alebtong District in the 11th Parliament, a seat he also held in the 10th Parliament.
