Qatar International School (QIS) is a British-patterned international school which follows the IGCSE/A-levels system. It is located in downtown Doha. The school provides education from reception (foundation stage) to Year 13.
QIS was founded by Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed bin Thani Al Thani and the first Principal, Mrs. Joyce Griffin, in 1977. It is one of the first British-patterned international schools in Qatar.
In 2001, the school relocated to the Al Dafna district, and currently has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students.
Then, in 2020, QIS acquired two international accreditations:
Firstly, QIS was judged to be ‘outstanding’ in every category of the UK government’s British School Overseas (BSO) inspection framework. [1]
Secondly, in the same year, QIS became the first school globally to receive Council for International Schools (CIS) accreditation through a new fast-track process designed for outstanding schools. [2]
QIS recently became the only school in the Middle East accredited to deliver OLEVI training courses straight from the UK, such as The Outstanding Teacher’s Programme. The school also partners with many other training providers. [3]
The current Executive Principal, Mr. Deane Baker, joined the school in 2013. Deane has more than 22 years of senior, school leadership experience, both in the UK and Middle East. As a Principal in the UK his leadership was described as “outstanding,” by Ofsted in multiple inspections. A former member of their Advisory Headteacher Panel, Deane has worked closely with both Ofsted, the UK Government and HMI to improve and support education policy and leadership. Now, as well as advising the Qatari Government on British Education, he also sits on the Executive Committee of the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) responsible for all country representatives across the region’s 150 schools.
The vast majority of QIS teaching staff have trained and taught in the UK.[ citation needed ]
Students are taught in Key Stages from Early Years and Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 5, and examinations are taken in GCSE, IGCSE and A Levels using UK examination boards. Almost all students leaving QIS move on to higher education in leading universities all over the world but most especially the UK, USA, Canada, UAE and Qatar itself.
The teaching staff are predominantly British and the curriculum is taught in English.[ citation needed ]
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is an English language based secondary qualification similar to the GCSE and is recognised in the United Kingdom as being equivalent to the GCSE for the purposes of recognising prior attainment. It was developed by Cambridge Assessment International Education. The examination boards Edexcel, Learning Resource Network (LRN), and Oxford AQA also offer their own versions of International GCSEs. Students normally begin studying the syllabus at the beginning of Year 10 and take the test at the end of Year 11. However, in some international schools, students can begin studying the syllabus at the beginning of Year 9 and take the test at the end of Year 10.
Regent High School (RHS), formerly South Camden Community School and Sir William Collins Secondary School, is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Somers Town, in the London Borough of Camden, England.
Garden International School (GIS) is a private, co-educational international school in Mont Kiara, Segambut, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Jerudong International School is a co-educational, boarding and day school in Brunei, Southeast Asia. It has over 1680 students - of which around 200 are boarding students. Jerudong International School first opened its doors for primary education in January 1997 and subsequently for secondary in October of the same year. JIS offers a British International education.

St. Benet Biscop Catholic Academy is a Roman Catholic high school in Bedlington, Northumberland, England. It is the only Catholic high school in the county.

Harris Academy Merton is a secondary school and sixth form located in the London Borough of Merton district of Mitcham. When inspected by Ofsted in both 2012 and 2022, it was judged to be outstanding.
Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich (HBAED) is a secondary school and sixth form with academy status for boys, located in the Peckham area of the London Borough of Southwark, England. Students arrive from 55 different feeder schools.

Two Boats School is in Two Boats Village on Ascension Island. It is part of the Ascension Island Government (AIG) and provides education to all children living on the island from Foundation Stage to Year 11. There are currently 100 children and 21 staff.
Doha Academy is an independent, privately owned day school situated in Doha, Qatar. It is open to students aged 3 – 18 or Kindergarten to Year 13, and follows the national curriculum for England. The school prepares students for the University of Cambridge International and EDEXCEL examinations.
Park Lane International School is an independent international day school located in Prague, the Czech Republic. The Park Lane student community consists of 600+ students, representing more than 40 nationalities. The home to foreign student ratio is 54% to 46%.
Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School, or Bangkok Prep, is an independent international school based on the National Curriculum of England located in Bangkok, Thailand. The British School of Ulaanbaatar (BSU) is a private international day school founded in 2012 and is located in the Khan Uul District of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Al Bateen World Academy, formerly known as Al Bateen Academy or Al Bateen Secondary School, is a private, British curriculum school in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Al Bateen educates students from years 7-13 in the British curriculum. It is affiliated with Al Mushrif Primary school, which operates from the same building.
EIFA International School, formerly known as L'Ecole Internationale Franco-Anglaise, is an English-French international co-educational nursery, junior and senior independent day school, located in Marylebone, London.
Surabaya European School (SES), Indonesia is a British international school that was established in 1997 as the first Montessori school in Surabaya with an AMI -trained teacher. In 2001, in collaboration with the British International School Jakarta, the school grew to embrace the British National Curriculum. SES subsequently progressed to full Cambridge International Examinations accreditation in 2011 and administered its first on site Cambridge examinations in a newly constructed campus the same year. In 2015, SES adopted the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), to run in unison with the Cambridge International Curriculum, for students in year 2-6.
