The 2024 Rajya Sabha elections will be held as part of a routine six-year cycle among certain of the State Legislatures in India in July and August 2024 to elect 65 of its 245 members, of which the states through their legislators elect 233, and the remaining 12 are appointed by the President. India has a parliamentary system as defined by its constitution, with power distributed between the union government and the states. India's democracy is the largest democracy in the world.
The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a state political party in Jammu and Kashmir, India. The PDP was headed and founded by Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. His daughter, Mehbooba Mufti, succeeded him as party leader and as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir following his death in January 2016. The party is a member of the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration electoral alliance. The party is also a member of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance since its founding on 18 June 2023.

Jagat Prakash "J.P." Yerram Venkata Subba Reddy is an Indian Politician who served as the Member of Parliament to the 16th Lok Sabha from Ongole, Andhra Pradesh. He won the 2014 Indian General Elections being a Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party Candidate. In 2019, he has been appointed as the Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which is equivalent to Minister rank in Andhra Pradesh Government.
Raghav Chadha is an Indian politician and a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. He is the youngest Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Punjab constituency. He was the former Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board and MLA from the Rajendra Nagar assembly constituency in Delhi till 2022. Chadha has been elected as Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. He is also a practising chartered accountant.
Mamata Thakur, is an Indian politician and member of Rajya Sabha from West Bengal, and belongs to the All India Trinamool Congress. She was elected to the Lok Sabha in a 2015 by-election, representing Bangaon from the All India Trinamool Congress. She came second in 2019 election, losing to BJP's candidate.
Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi is an Indian politician and former professor. A leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Member of Parliament from its Upper House, the Rajya Sabha. Trivedi is the Senior National Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Rajya Sabha elections were held in India in 2015 to elect eight members of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament. Five by-elections were also held. The regular elections were held to fill seats in the States of Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, and the Union Territory of Pondicherry.

Rajya Sabha elections were held in 2018 to elect the 65 retiring members of the Rajya Sabha, Indian Parliament's upper chamber. There were, as routine, three such elections held among relevant State and Union Territory legislators by single transferable vote (STV) and Open Ballot: on 16 January to elect 3 members from Delhi and 1 member from Sikkim; on 23 March to elect 58 members from 16 States; and lastly on 21 June to elect 3 members from Kerala. Being even-numbered, 2018 was a year in which about 30% of the State Legislature-elected 233-seat component of the body is elected. The other 12 seats of the body are appointed by the President.
2020 Rajya Sabha elections were the set of indirect elections by the members of State legislatures of India, to elect new members to fill vacancies in the Rajya Sabha – the upper house of the Parliament of India. The elections are held annually and throughout the year on an ad hoc basis. The elections in 2020 are for a total of 73 seats of which 55 of them were to be elected by March 26. The remaining were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Election Commission of India later announced all the elections for the remaining 24 Rajya Sabha seats were to be held on 19 June 2020.
