Basu Chatterjee received dual nominations for Best Director for his direction in Chitchor and Chhoti Si Baat, but lost to Gulzar who won the award for Mausam.

Kabhie Kabhie is a 1976 Indian Hindi-language musical romantic drama film written by Pamela Chopra and directed and produced by Yash Chopra under the production banner of Yash Raj Films. Released on 27 February 1976, the film stars an ensemble cast of Waheeda Rehman, Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Rakhee Gulzar, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. This was Yash Chopra's second directorial film with Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor in the lead roles after Deewaar (1975) and was particularly noted for its soundtrack compositions by Khayyam. Vidya Sinha was an Indian actress who acted in Hindi films, most known for Rajnigandha (1974), Chhoti Si Baat (1975) and Pati Patni Aur Woh (1978). She started her career as a model and won the Miss Bombay title. Her first movie was Raja Kaka (1974) opposite Kiran Kumar. However, fame came to her through the low-budget break-away hit Rajnigandha (1974), directed by her mentor Basu Chatterjee. She acted in several films after which she took a hiatus. Returning to acting in the later part of her life, she acted in several TV serials and the Salman Khan movie Bodyguard (2011).

<i>Chhoti Si Baat</i> 1976 film

Chhoti Si Baat is a 1976 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film directed by Basu Chatterjee. Considered one of the best Hindi comedy films of the 1970s, it is a nostalgic favourite for its quirky take on pre-hypercongestion Mumbai. The film became a box office hit and stars Amol Palekar, Vidya Sinha, Ashok Kumar and Asrani in lead roles. and also earned six Filmfare nominations and a Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay for Basu Chatterjee. The film is a remake of the 1960 British film School for Scoundrels.

Raakhee Gulzar, professionally known as Raakhee, is an Indian actress who has appeared in Hindi and Bengali films. In her four decades of acting, she has worked in more than 100 films. Raakhee has won several awards including two National Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards. In 2003, she received Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award.
