7th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party

The 7th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party was in session from 1945 to 1956. It was a product of the convening of the 7th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. It held six plenary sessions in this 11-year period. It began in June 1945, before the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War, and the resumption of the Chinese Civil War. This committee would be succeeded by the 8th Central Committee.

Its second plenary session was held in 1949, at about the same time as the establishment of the People's Republic of China.

    • Date: March 5–13, 1949
    • Location: Xibaipo, Pingshan County
    • Significance: This meeting was held just before the victory over the Kuomintang. Mao Zedong delivered a report focusing on the post-victory activity of the Communist Party, emphasizing the need to guard from "unarmed enemies" and "sugar-covered bullets". The decision to convene the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference with "democratic parties" was also taken.
  3. 3rd Plenary Session
    • Date: June 6–9, 1950
    • Location: Beijing
    • Significance: First meeting of the CCP Central Committee to be held in Beijing and after the nationwide victory. It focused on the Central People's Government work, with reports delivered by Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi and Chen Yun. Nie Rongzhen made a report on the reorganization of the People's Liberation Army from guerilla formations towards becoming the armed forces of the new Republic.

    • Date: February 6–10, 1954
    • Location: Beijing
    • Significance: Gao Gang was criticized. Mao Zedong did not participate, and the report by the Politburo was delivered by Liu Shaoqi.
  5. 5th Plenary Session
    • Date: April 4, 1955
    • Location: Beijing
    • Significance: The meeting was held after a Party national conference held in March. It approved the conference's resolutions on the Five-Year Plan and expelling Gao Gang (posthumously) and Rao Shushi. Lin Biao and Deng Xiaoping were elected to the Politburo for the first time.

    • Significance: Resolutions on the collectivization and socialist transformation of agriculture were taken. A decision on the convening of the Party's 8th National Congress was adopted.

The Central Secretariat of the Chinese Communist Party, officially the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of China, is a body serving the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party and its Standing Committee. The secretariat is mainly responsible for carrying out routine operations of the Politburo and the coordination of organizations and stakeholders to achieve tasks as set out by the Politburo. It is empowered by the Politburo to make routine day-to-day decisions on issues of concern in accordance to the decisions of the Politburo, but it must consult the Politburo on substantive matters.

Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party Leader of the Chinese Communist Party between 1945 and 1982

The chairman of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party was the leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The position was established at the 8th National Congress in 1945 and abolished at the 12th National Congress in 1982, being replaced by the general secretary. Offices with the name Chairman of the Central Executive Committee and Chairman of the Central Committee existed in 1922–1923 and 1928–1931, respectively.

Zunyi Conference

The Zunyi Conference was a meeting of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in January 1935 during the Long March. This meeting involved a power struggle between the leadership of Bo Gu and Otto Braun and the opposition led by Mao Zedong. The result was that Mao left the meeting in position to take over military command and become the leader of the Communist Party. The conference was completely unacknowledged until the 1950s and still no detailed descriptions were available until the fiftieth anniversary in 1985.

Li Desheng Chinese general

Li Desheng was a general in the Chinese People's Liberation Army. He was born in Xin County, Henan, China, an area now known as the "Cradle of Generals" for the large number of senior military officers born in the region. He joined the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army at the age of 14, in 1930, the Communist Youth League in 1931, and the Communist Party of China a year later. He attained the rank of Major General in 1955, and General in 1988. The patterns of Li's advancement suggest that he was mentored by Chen Xilian, and that he was closely aligned with You Taizhong. Li Desheng served on the politburo from 1969–1985, one of the most turbulent periods of the People's Republic. He died in Beijing on 8 May 2011.
