Africa Aquatics, previously known as African Swimming Confederation (CANA), is the continental association charged with overseeing swimming for Africa. CANA was founded in 1970, with 7 members. By 2008 it had 43 members. [1]

CANA is geographically divided into four (4) Zones, each of which hosts its own Age Group Championships. The Zones are as follows:

World Aquatics, formerly known as FINA, is the international federation recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for administering international competitions in water sports. It is one of several international federations which administer a given sport or discipline for both the IOC and the international community. It is based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The 2009 World Aquatics Championships or the XIII FINA World Championships were held in Rome, Italy from 18 July to 2 August 2009. The 2009 Championships featured competition in all 5 aquatics disciplines: diving, swimming, open water swimming, synchronised swimming and water polo.

The 10th FINA World Swimming Championships was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 15–19 December 2010. This swimming-only championships took place in the Dubai Sports Complex; all events were swum in a 25-meter (short-course) pool.

The Swimming Union of the Americas is the swimming continental association for the Americas. It is commonly referred to as ASUA in English, or by its Spanish and French acronym, UANA – Unión Americana de Natación (Spanish) or Union américaine de natation (French).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m)</span>

The 11th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) was held in Istanbul, Turkey on 12–16 December 2012. This swimming-only championships took place in the Sinan Erdem Dome; all events were swum in a 25-meter (short-course) pool.

The Oceania Swimming Association is the continental governing body recognised by FINA, for the national governing bodies of swimming, open water swimming, diving, water polo, synchronised swimming and masters swimming in Oceania.

The 9th African Swimming Championships were held at Ellis Park, Johannesburg, South Africa from 1–7 December 2008.

Royal Moroccan Swimming Federation (French: Royale Marocaine de Natation) (FRMN) is the national federation which oversees aquatic sports in Morocco. FRMN oversees competition within Morocco in swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming, and open water swimming. It was founded in 1956 and is currently based in Casablanca, Morocco.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2015 World Aquatics Championships</span> 16th FINA World Championships

The 16th FINA World Championships, also Aquatics 2015, were held in Kazan, Russia from 24 July to 9 August 2015. Russia hosted this event for the first time. The number of participating national teams (190), athletes (2,400) and the number of medals (75) were the most ever amongst these championships. This was the first time the World Aquatics Championships partially overlaps with the FINA World Masters Championships that have a number of athletes, countries (110) and medals (635) which are the most ever also.

The 17th FINA World Championships were held in Budapest, Hungary from 14 to 30 July 2017.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2019 World Aquatics Championships</span> 18th edition of the World Aquatics Championships

The 2019 World Aquatics Championships were the 18th FINA World Aquatics Championships, held in Gwangju, South Korea from 12 to 28 July 2019. The city had previously hosted the 2015 Summer Universiade aquatics events in the same venues.

The Algerian Swimming Federation, is the national governing body for the sport of swimming in Algeria. It is a member of FINA, the international federation for swimming and other aquatic sports, as well as CANA.

Chinelo Iyadi is a Nigerian swimmer who competes for Nigeria internationally. She emerged 44th Place for the women's 50m breaststroke during the 2019 World Aquatics Championships. She also competed in 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke women butterfly during the 2016 Confederation of African Swimming Association senior championships in Dakar, Senegal.

The 16th FINA World Swimming Championships took place from 13 to 18 December 2022 in Melbourne, Australia at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. Swimming events in the championships were conducted in a 25-metre outdoor pool.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 World Aquatics Championships</span> 19th FINA World Championships

The 2022 World Aquatics Championships, the 19th edition of the FINA World Aquatics Championships, were held in Budapest, Hungary, from 17 June to 3 July 2022. These championships included five disciplines, with high diving not staged for this edition of the championships.
