2008

Muqam contested 2008 Pakistani general election on PML(Q)'s ticket and won from NA-31 (Shangla). However, later he developed a difference with Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and joined PML(N).

In 2018, Amir Muqam contested two provisional seats NA-29 (Peshawar-III) and NA-2 (Swat-I). He finished fourth in NA-29 (Peshawar-III) and second in NA-2 (Swat-I). He also contested two provisional seats PK-2 (Swat) and PK 4 (Swat 3) and lost both.

Controversies and Scandals

National Accountability Bureau summoned Muqam in assets beyond his known sources cases multiple times. [23] [24] A new reference was filed against Amir Muqam in 2021 [25]

Amir Muqam's son was arrested over corruption charges in the construction of Alpari Road in KP's Shangla district by Federal Investigation Agency, [26] the project was assigned during Pakistan Muslim League (N) tenure on the recommendation of Ameer Muqam. [27]

General elections were held in Pakistan on 10 October 2002 to elect the 12th National Assembly and four Provincial Assemblies. The elections were held under the military government of Pervez Musharraf. The two mainstream parties, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) had several restrictions imposed on them and their leaders Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif were in exile. In order to address the restrictions, PPP created the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) under the leadership of Ameen Faheem, to contest the elections on its behalf. The PML-N meanwhile, suffering from the party's division into two factions: one that remained loyal to Sharif and were contesting the elections under the leadership of Javed Hashmi, and the other which had broken away to form the pro-Musharraf Pakistan Muslim League (Q) (PML-Q) under the leadership of Mian Muhammad Azhar. The emergence of the PML-Q marked the beginning of multi-party politics in the country, bringing an end to the decade-long two-party system between the PPP and PML-N.

Mian Muhammad Azhar is a Pakistani politician and a businessman representing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He is from an Arain family of Lahore, He is a former governor of Punjab (1990-1993) and the founder of PML-Q, of which he was also president. He is one of the largest steel manufacturers of Pakistan and is the CEO of Afco Steel Industries. He was also the mayor of Lahore between 1987 and 1991.

Syed Alla-ud-din Khan is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013, representing the constituency NA-30 (Swat-II) as a member of Pakistan Peoples Party. He ran for a re-election in 2013, but lost to Salim Rehman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

General elections were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, 25 July 2018 to elect the 51 members of 15th National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) obtained a landslide victory in the province by winning 37 general seats and increased their margin of victory from 2013. The PTI also won 8 out of 10 reserved seats while the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) won 1 reserved seat each.
