Bergen County Christian Academy (BCCA) is a private Christian school located in Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. [4] Bergen County Christian Academy was founded in 1973 as Hackensack Christian Schools, a ministry of First Baptist Church of Hackensack. [5] Hackensack Christian was reestablished as Bergen County Christian Academy in 2016. [6] The Academy is a member of the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS), Garden State Association of Christian Schools (GSACS) [7] and Metro Christian Athletic Association (MCAA). Bergen County Christian Academy also accepts international students through the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP and I-20) [8]

As of the 2019–20 school year, the school had an enrollment of 101 students (plus 19 in PreK) and 18 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 5.6:1. The school's student body was 37.6% (38) Hispanic, 27.7% (28) White, 13.9% (14) two or more races, 12.9% (13) Asian and 7.9% (8) Black. [1]

Athletics

Bergen County Christian Academy offers Junior Varsity and Varsity Soccer, Basketball, and Volleyball. [9] Co-Ed Junior Varsity teams go from grades 5-8, Varsity Boys from grades 9-12, and Varsity Girls from grades 9-12. The JV Basketball teams go from grades 5-8 and Varsity teams 9-12. [10]

Academics

Bergen County Christian Academy offers multiple instrumental lessons, through the BCCA Conservatory, which include private piano, guitar, drums, multiple woodwind, and vocal lessons to students who wish to learn how to play these instruments. [11]

Some institutions that BCCA graduates have attended are Berklee College of Music (Boston), New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), New York University (NYU), Liberty University, Cedarville University, and many more. [12]

The Dwight-Englewood School (D-E) is an independent coeducational college-preparatory day school, located in Englewood in Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The Lower School, formerly known as the Bede School, serves students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade in Drapkin Hall. Paramus Catholic High School is a co-educational Roman Catholic high school located in Paramus in Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The school, founded in 1965, under Archbishop Thomas A. Boland, and Superintendent of Schools, Monsignor Joseph P. Tuite, Paramus Catholic operated as a co-institutional school until 1995. Paramus Catholic was staffed by the Brothers of Christian Schools under the leadership of Bro. James P. Kelly, FSC, Principal, and Paramus Catholic Girls' High School by the Sisters of Charity of Convent Station, New Jersey, under the leadership of Sr. Helen Demetria, SC, Principal. There was a sharing of the plant and facility, however, the two schools operated as separate academic institutions. Paramus Catholic was the last secondary school established by the Archdiocese of Newark in Bergen County. The two schools were unified into one by the Archdiocese of Newark beginning in the 1995–1996 school year. When the school was unified to one academic institution, the Christian Brothers withdrew from involvement, and the Sisters of Charity took over leadership, until their withdrawal from the school in the early 2000s. Hackensack Gospel Church previously known as the First Baptist Church of Hackensack is a non-denominational church located in Hackensack, New Jersey. It is a campus of the Hawthorne Gospel Church. The campus covers a full city block of land and includes a 500-seat worship auditorium, a school offering pre-kindergarten through grade 12, a day camp, and a library. The church formerly had a bookstore and various other ministry as well. At one point the church had nearly 1,500 members.
