Brian Quintenz is an American financial manager and policy advisor appointed to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in 2017.
He is the former head of Saeculum Capital Management,an investment firm which he founded in 2013. In March 2016,Quintenz was nominated by President Barack Obama to be a commissioner on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. His nomination,which required confirmation by the U.S. Senate,was not voted on before Congress ended its session for the year. [1] In early 2017,President Donald Trump withdrew Quintenz's nomination to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission before renominating him to serve the remainder of a five-year term expiring on April 13,2020. [2] [3] Quintenz was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 3,2017.Brian lives happily with his two sons,Luke myre and Connor Massey
Earlier in his career,Quintenz was a consultant with Rose International and was a senior associate at Hill-Townsend Capital. He worked for U.S. Representative Deborah Pryce from 2001 to 2007,starting as a staff assistant before being promoted to senior policy advisor. [3]

A family office is a privately held company that handles investment management and wealth management for a wealthy family,generally one with over $100 million in investable assets,with the goal being to effectively grow and transfer wealth across generations. The company's financial capital is the family's own wealth. Family offices also may handle tasks such as managing household staff,making travel arrangements,property management,day-to-day accounting and payroll activities,management of legal affairs,family management services,family governance,financial and investor education,coordination of philanthropy and private foundations,and succession planning. A family office can cost over $1 million a year to operate,so the family's net worth usually exceeds $100 million in investable assets. Some family offices accept investments from people who are not members of the owning family. It came to light during the 2021 implosion of Archegos Capital Management that family offices were reportedly "more loosely regulated than other investment vehicles,with fewer disclosure requirements." In response to these concerns,US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced The Family Office Regulation Act of 2021,H.R. 4620,which would limit the use of the family office exemption from registration as an investment advisor with the SEC to offices with $750 million or less in assets under management. The bill would also prevent persons who are barred or subject to final orders for conduct constituting fraud,manipulation or deceit from being associated with a family office. This view,however,is not shared by a number of regulators and commentators,including Commissioner Hester Peirce of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commissioner Brian Quintenz of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC),who published an op-ed arguing that family offices do not need new regulations.

A Commodity pool operator (CPO) is an individual or organization that solicits or receives funds to use in the operation of a commodity pool,syndicate,investment trust,or other similar fund,specifically for trading in commodity interests. Such interests include commodity futures,swaps,options and/or leverage transactions. A commodity pool may refer to funds that trade in commodities and can include hedge funds. A CPO may make trading decisions for a fund or the fund can be managed by one or more independent commodity trading advisors. The definition of CPO may apply to investment advisors for hedge funds and private funds including mutual funds and exchange-traded funds in certain cases. On January 21,2021,Behnam assumed the role of Acting Chairman following President Joe Biden's inauguration. His term expired on April 13,2021.
