Rocky Hill is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The town is part of the Capitol Planning Region. The population was 20,845 at the 2020 census. It was originally land of the Wangunks. Europeans began to settle the area of Rocky Hill in 1650, as part of Wethersfield, the neighboring town to the north. In 1722, the area became known as Stepney Parish, until it was independently incorporated in 1843. Rocky Hill’s location on the Connecticut River made it a natural port for Wethersfield and an early center for shipbuilding, agriculture, and trade.

It regulates new car dealers, commercial cargo carriers, private driving schools, and private traffic schools. The DMV operates a total of 20 offices across the state, with five in Las Vegas, two in Reno, and one each in Henderson, Sparks, Carson City, Elko, Ely, Fallon, Hawthorne, Laughlin, Mesquite, Pahrump, Tonopah, Winnemucca, and Yerington. Wethersfield State Prison was the second state prison in the state of Connecticut. Used between 1827 and 1963, it was later demolished and the site turned into a park on the banks of the Connecticut River.
Osborn Correctional Institution (OCI), formerly known as the Connecticut Correctional Institution – Somers, is a medium security state prison that includes a high security mental health unit for men of the Connecticut Department of Correction located in Somers, Connecticut. It has capacity of 1900 inmates, making it amongst the largest prisons in the state and one of the oldest operational facilities in Connecticut.
Frederick Gates Reincke was the thirty-fifth Adjutant General of the State of Connecticut. He went to public schools in Winsted. Reincke was appointed Wethersfield prison warder in 1963. That same year he supervised all the transferred inmates from the Wethersfield prison to the new prison in Somers. His decorations were Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, commendation ribbon, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign and Combat Infantryman badge.
Elmer Stiles Watson was an American military officer and politician who served as majority leader of the Connecticut State Senate from 1957 to 1959. Following graduation from high school, he took a job at his brother's insurance agency. He also joined the Connecticut National Guard and served with the United States Army in World War II. He remained with the Connecticut National Guard after the war and served as its commanding officer from 1949 to 1951.
