EcoGP, officially the Eco Grand Prix, is a European 24-hour car race for electric cars. [1] The green series was conceived in 2013 by the world record holder Rafael de Mestre, holding several world records in driving with electric cars like the fastest circumnavigation (2016) or the longest trip in a production EV (2024). In 2018, the world's first 24-hour race for electric cars started in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben in Germany.

The 24-hour race is won by the car that covers the greatest distance in 24 hours. [2] The role model for the series was the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Drivers in the cup included Jutta Kleinschmidt, Volker Strycek, Michel von Tell and Rafael de Mestre. [3] [4]

2018 it was the first 24-hour race in which electric production cars like Tesla Model S, Hyundai Ioniq, BMW i3, Renault ZOE, Volkswagen e-Golf] and others took part. Thirty cars and 98 drivers took part in the first 24-hour electric car race. In 2019 forty electric cars started in Oschersleben, an unbroken world record until today.

In the later years EVs from Porsche, Opel, Kia and Jaguar joined the competition. Prototypes can join the ecoGP in a separate category.

Among the racing tracks Transilvania Motor Ring, Nürburgring, Hungaroring and Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi there have been are also street courses in Zell am See, Schauinsland, Rund um Schotten and the famous Circuit des Platanes in the city center of Perpignan.

From 2013 until 2023 in total 982 drivers started at 28 ecoGP competitions all around the world.

The series has been a member of DMSB (German Motor Sport Federation) since 2020. [5]

The Motorsport Arena Oschersleben is a 3.696 km (2.297 mi) long race track with a width of 11–13 m (12–14 yd) and elevation changes of 23 m (75 ft). The circuit is located in Oschersleben, Börde where is approximately 30 km (19 mi) from Magdeburg, Germany. Its fairly flat contours create a smooth, fast circuit.

The 2010 ATS F3 Cup was the eighth edition of the German F3 Cup. The season consisted of nine race weekends, totalling eighteen races, beginning on 10 April at Oschersleben and ending on 3 October at the same venue.

The 2010 ADAC Formel Masters season was the third season of the ADAC Formel Masters series from Germany. Richie Stanaway won twelve of the first 18 races en route to claiming championship victory with a meeting to spare. His team ma-con Motorsport also claimed the teams' championship at the Nürburgring round of the series. German drivers Patrick Schranner and Mario Farnbacher finished second and third in the points.

The 2012 ADAC Formel Masters season was an open-wheel motor racing series for emerging young racing drivers based out of Germany. It was the fifth season of the ADAC Formel Masters. The season began on 31 March at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben and finished on 30 September at Hockenheim after eight race weekends, totalling 24 races.

The 2013 ATS Formel 3 Cup was the 11th edition of the German F3 Cup in motorsport. The season began on 27 April at Oschersleben and finished on 29 September at Hockenheim after nine race weekends, with 26 races – one race at the Nürburgring was cancelled – completed in total. The championship was dominated by Marvin Kirchhöfer in his debut year finishing with 25 podiums including 13 wins.

The 2021 ADAC Formula 4 Championship was the seventh season of the ADAC Formula 4, an open-wheel motor racing series. Rafael de Mestre is an experienced IT consultant and electric car pioneer. He has achieved the impressive feat of traveling around the world twice in an electric car.

Axel Felder was a German racing driver who is best known for being a two-time winner of the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race. In 1985, he finished both 1st and 2nd in the race, completing stints in both BMW's during the event. Felder was killed in a plane crash in 1987.
