Eva Skafte Jensen (born 1966 [1] ) is a Danish linguist and researcher at the Danish Language Council.

Her research is focused on the Danish language, its use on social media and history, especially changes in the use of case.

She is included in the Royal Danish Academy, [2] a member of the board for Det Danske Sprog- og Litteraturselskab (The Danish Language and Literature Society) [3] and series editor of the journal Ny Forskning i Grammatik (New Research in Grammar). [4] She has also been a participant in the podcast Klog på Sprog broadcast on the national Danish radio DR P1. [5]

Biography

Eva Skafte Jensen became cand.phil. in nordic philology in 1994, and PhD in 2001 with a dissertation on Danish sentential adverbs and their word order properties, [6] both degrees from the University of Copenhagen. Then, in 2001-2003 she was a postdoc financed by the Carlsberg Foundation after which she became associate professor at Roskilde University. During this position, she finished a dissertation on the nominative case earning her the higher doctorate (dr.phil). [7] [8] In 2012, she moved to the Danish Language Council as a senior researcher. [9]

The Danish Women's Society or DWS is Denmark's oldest women's rights organization. It was founded in 1871 by activist Matilde Bajer and her husband Fredrik Bajer; Fredrik was a Member of Parliament and the 1908 Nobel Peace Prize laureate. The association stands for an inclusive, intersectional and progressive liberal feminism, and advocates for the rights of all women and girls and LGBT rights. It publishes the world's oldest women's magazine, Kvinden & Samfundet, established in 1885. The Danish Women's Society is a member of the International Alliance of Women and is a sister association of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights and the Icelandic Women's Rights Association.

Perkerdansk, Immigrant Danish or Gadedansk is a multi-ethnolect spoken in Denmark, a variety of Danish associated primarily with youth of Middle Eastern ethnic background. It is a contact variety that includes features of Danish as well as Arabic, Turkish, English and other immigrant languages. Particularly common in urban areas with high densities of immigrant populations, its features have also spread to general youth language in Denmark.

Elisabeth (Lis) Jacobsen, née Rubin, was a Danish philologist, archaeologist and writer. She is remembered first and foremost for her research and publications on the history of the Danish language but she was also an expert runologist who published a comprehensive analysis of all known runic inscriptions in Denmark. From 1911, Jacobsen played a major role in all fields of research related to the Danish language.

Nina Grønnum is a Danish retired phonetician and associate professor emeritus from the University of Copenhagen. She is best known for her work on the pronunciation of Danish and especially her many studies on Danish intonation and prosody. She went by her married name Nina Thorsen or Nina Grønnum Thorsen until the 1980s.

Niels Aage Anton Nielsen was a Danish professor of Nordic languages at Aarhus University. He was also a leader in the Danish resistance movement.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sophie Ørsted</span> Danish muse

Sophie Wilhelmine Bertha Ørsted was a Danish socialite and muse. Brought up in a literary environment in Copenhagen, she was the sister of writer Adam Oehlenschläger (1779–1850) and was married to jurist Anders Sandøe Ørsted (1778-1860). She became an inspiration for others, including the poet Jens Baggesen (1764–1826). She died of abdominal complications when she was only 35.

Finn Hauberg Mortensen was a Danish literature researcher and Professor of Nordic Literature at Odense University. He was the son of the artist Richard Mortensen and the author Sonja Hauberg.
