GameFront is a video game website that provides patches, demos, modifications, and other user generated game related content to users. [1] In addition, the site provides editorial content around the modding community and the wider gaming industry. [2] The site has a forum and an active Discord community.

In April 2016 the site closed. [3] DBolical Pty Ltd. acquired GameFront from Defy Media, and relaunched the website in March 2018. [4] [5]

History and ownership

On January 6, 2009, UGO Networks acquired 1UP.com. FileFront was not part of the purchase and became part of the PC Magazine Digital Network. [6]

In March 2008, Ziff Davis Media entered chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. On March 26, 2009, Ziff Davis Media announced that FileFront site operations were to be indefinitely suspended on March 30, 2009. All of the Staff in Ziff Davis's FileFront division were made redundant at this time. [7]

On February 11, 2010, Break Media acquired FileFront. [8]

On April 14, 2016, GameFront announced that the site would be shutting down on April 30, 2016. [3] In August 2016, DBolical Pty Ltd., owners of ModDB, acquired GameFront from Defy Media, and on March 11, 2018, officially relaunched the website with much of its original content alongside new features. [9] [10]

On August 1, 2021 it was announced that the website, assets and trademarks for GameFront.com were purchased from DBolical Pty Ltd. by GameFront Ltd. This new company is owned and run by long-time GameFront/FileFront members who have been running the site for a number of years under the prior ownership of DBolical Pty Ltd. [11]

Mount & Blade is a 2008 medieval strategy action role-playing game for Microsoft Windows, developed by Turkish company TaleWorlds Entertainment, and published by Swedish company Paradox Interactive. In the game, the player controls a customized character to battle, trade, and manage a fief in the medieval land of Calradia. The game was developed by Armağan Yavuz and his wife İpek Yavuz, the founders of TaleWorlds Entertainment. Pocket Gamer is a video game website that focuses on mobile, portable and handheld games. The site launched in 2005 and is published and owned by UK company Steel Media Ltd. The site covers all major portable and mobile gaming formats, including iPhone, iPod, iPad, MacBook, Pokémon go plus watch and others. And including iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Android, Nintendo Switch and others. It was one of the first to cover the iPhone gaming market. The publication also hands out awards for handheld games to recognize them in several categories. The British newspaper The Guardian at one time syndicated a list of recommended mobile games from Pocket Gamer, especially the list of recommended games for each month. In the years since launch, Steel Media Ltd has created many brand spin-offs, including the industry-facing PocketGamer.biz site and a series of conferences called Pocket Gamer Connects.

Bust-a-Move Universe, known in Japan as Tobidasu! Puzzle Bobble 3D, and in the PAL region as Puzzle Bobble Universe, is a puzzle video game developed by Taito and Arika and published by Square Enix for the Nintendo 3DS. It was released in Japan as a launch title on February 26, 2011, and was released in North America on March 27.

A Minecraft mod (modification) is an independent, user-made modification to the open world sandbox game Minecraft. Lots of these mods exist, with users able to download them from the Internet, commonly for free. Utilizing additional software, several mods can be used at the same time in order to improve the gameplay.
