Gupteshwar Mandir is a Shiva temple located in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The shivalinga in the temple was established by Lord Ram during vanavasa. This temple is considered as the uplinga of Rameshwaram. [1] [2] [3]

History

During vanavasa, when Lord Ram and Lakshman went out in search of Mata Sita, they visited the banks of River Narmada. When Lord Ram wanted to meet Jabali Rishi, he came to the banks of River Narmada in Jabalpur. During this time, he had worshiped Lord Mahadev. He constructed a shivalinga using sand, who is now known as Gupteshwar Mahadev. [4] [1] [3]

Fair in Sawan

In the month of Sawan, The shivalinga is decorated in different forms, especially in the evening for a month. Some special arrangements are also made for the devotees to worship the Lord. [1] Devotees visit everyday in the month of Sawan to have the darshan of the Lord. To offer to Lord, Dhatura, Belpatra and flowers are available from various shops outside the temple. During the month of Sawan, a fair is also organized in the grounds adjacent to the temple, in which various types of swings and children's play items are available. [3]
