K. R. Meera is an Indian author and journalist, who writes in Malayalam. She was born in Sasthamkotta, Kollam district in Kerala. She worked as a journalist in Malayala Manorama but later resigned to concentrate more on writing. She started writing fiction in 2001 and her first short story collection Ormayude Njarambu was published in 2002. Since then she has published five collections of short stories, two novellas, five novels and two children's books. She won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2009 for her short-story, Ave Maria. Her novel Aarachaar (2012) is widely regarded as one of the best literary works produced in Malayalam language. It received several awards including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award (2013), Odakkuzhal Award (2013), Vayalar Award (2014) and Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award (2015). It was also shortlisted for the 2016 DSC Prize for South Asian Literature.
Pothan Joseph (1892–1972) was a journalist in 20th-century India whose career spanned the twenty years before and twenty years after India's independence. He worked with notable people of the time such as Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Annie Besant, Mahatma Gandhi, Sarojini Naidu, and Motilal Nehru. He was the first to write a daily political column for five decades, called 'Over A Cup of Tea', sprinkled with Biblical and Dickensian quotes. He also discovered and nurtured the Indian cartoonist Shankar, helping to make political cartoons a staple of newspapers.

The Nigerian Institute of Journalism is a Nigerian monotechnic located at 8-14, Ijaiye road, Ogba in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria. The institute is a diploma awarding monotechnic established in 1963 by the International Press Institute and became fully operational in 1971. The institute offers academic and professional diploma programmes, ranging from full time to part time, for the award of National Diploma and Higher National Diploma certificates. More so, the institute has a special programme directorate charged with developing certificate courses in effective writing and communication, photojournalism, film directing and editing. A standard library, ICT centre, radio and television studios, Photo and digital laboratory facilities amidst others are available to support services. It is one of the monotechnics in Nigeria which are overseen and accredited by the National Board for Technical Education. The vision of the institute is " to be the leading and foremost Mass Communication and Journalism training Institution in Africa; “the Centre of Communication Excellence.”
Arun Mathew, better known by his stage name Mathukkutty, is an Indian radio jockey, television host, actor and director. He is known for his association with the Malayalam television shows on One TV, Mazhavil Manorama, Flowers, Zee Keralam, Surya TV and for his role in the Malayalam film Ithihasa, Campus Diary, Kamuki and Hridayam. His debut film as director was Kunjeldho.
Kerala State Institute of Design (KSID) , a design institute under Department of labour and Skills, Government of Kerala, is located at Chandanathope, about 8 Kilometers from Kollam city. It was established in 2008 with the support of NID Ahmedabad and is one of the first state-owned design institutes in India. The faculty development programme and curriculum development for the design programmes of KSID are provided by NID Ahmedabad. KSID currently conducts Post Graduate Diploma Programs in Design developed in association with National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
