Kevin Richard Light (born May 16, 1979) is a Canadian rower.
He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia but has lived in Victoria, British Columbia since 1985.
He began rowing at Stelly's High School in grade 12 and graduated in 1997. He was enrolled at the University of Victoria from 1997 until 2001 where he was part of numerous Canadian University Rowing Championships teams. The highlight of his university rowing career came in 2001 when Uvic beat the University of Washington at the Opening Day Regatta. He won the gold medal at both the 2003 and 2002 World Championships in Canada's men's eight team in Milan, Italy and Seville, Spain respectively. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, Light and his crew finished 5th in the finals of the men's eight.
Light graduated from the Victoria Motion Picture School in 2004/2005 and then the Western Academy of Photography in 2008/2009, where he studied photojournalism.
In 2006 Light represented Canada along with fellow Victoria rower Malcolm Howard in the men's straight pair. The two combined for a thrilling come from behind sprint moving from 6th into a bronze medal position with 500m to go at the 2006 World Rowing Championships at Eton, England.
In 2007 Light again won the gold medal at world championship in the eight in Munich, Germany. He was named to the Canadian men's eight for the 2008 Olympic games to be held in Beijing, China.
He won a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the men's eights with Andrew Byrnes, Kyle Hamilton, Malcolm Howard, Adam Kreek, Ben Rutledge, Dominic Sieterle, Jake Wetzel and cox Brian Price. [1]
In September 2012, he was brought on at Claremont Secondary School as a coach and manager. For his debut as head coach at the CSSRA in St. Catharines, Ontario, Light led the team to gold medals in three different events: the senior women's quad, the junior men's double and the junior men's quad. [2] He coached throughout the next three years, leaving in June 2015. [3]
Light has produced many videos, including some that feature footage of the Canada Men's team training. One of them was an entry for a competition by Concept2. Balls Away was shot in San Francisco while on a training camp in 2007. It was done with the Sony Bravia commercial in mind.[ citation needed ]
Light has a sister named Heather Light who was born on June 23, 1981. She works at Thrifty Foods and swims for the Special Olympics team in Victoria.
Jacob Wetzel is a Canadian rower. He has represented both Canada and the United States at the World Championships and the Olympics. He was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Barney Guillermo Williams is a Canadian rower who won a gold medal at the 2003 world championships in Milan and a silver in the same event at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He also has two wins and a second in the four in Rowing World Cup events. On April 18, 2021, Barney resigned from his position as head coach of the University of Victoria's women's varsity rowing program in mutual agreement with the athletic department. After several reports of demeaning and aggressive behaviour towards student athletes, Rowing Canada ruled he violated their code of conduct as well as the National Coaching Certification Program code of ethics. He was sanctioned with a 12-month ban from all Rowing Canada activities on April 20, 2021.

Adam Kreek is an author, executive business coach and Canadian rower. He is a member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame.
Brian Price has been the Canadian coxswain of the men's eight since 2001. He was born in Belleville, Ontario. Price began rowing on the National Team in 1998 after graduating from Seneca College with a Civil Engineering Technology diploma. The first national team crew that he made was the 1998 development lightweight eight. He made the move to the heavyweight men's team in 1999 and competed at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg.
Kyle Hamilton is a Canadian rower from Richmond, British Columbia. He won the gold medal at the 2002, 2003 and 2007 world championships for Canada's men's eight team in Milan, Italy and Seville, Spain and Munich.
Kathleen Joan Heddle, was a Canadian Olympic rower. She and her long-time rowing partner Marnie McBean were the first Canadians to be awarded three Olympic gold medals at the Summer Games. They also won a silver in double sculls at the 1994 World Championships.

Dominic Seiterle is a Canadian rower born in Montreal, Quebec. He is a 2008 Summer Olympics and World Rowing Championships gold medallist as a member of the 8+. He also won three gold medals at the 2007 World Rowing Cup regattas and gold at the 2007 Henley Royal Regatta. Previous to this, he was 2006 Canadian National Rowing Gold medallist in the single scull and came 13th at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the double sculls.

Byrnes is a 2005 graduate of Bates College in Maine, where he rowed for the Bates Rowing Team and earned a master's degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006.
Malcolm Howard is a Canadian rower. He was born in Victoria, British Columbia and graduated from Brentwood College School in 2001. While at Brentwood he joined Canada's junior national team.
Gabriel "Gabe" Bergen is a Canadian rower. Bergen won a silver medal as part of the men's eights for Canada at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He has also won one medal of every colour at the World Championships including being champion in the coxed pair in 2008 and a silver and a bronze in the eights in 2009 and 2011 respectively.

Michael Francis Teti is an American Olympic rowing coach and former rower. Formerly the head coach of men's crew at the University of California, Berkeley, he is a twelve-time U.S. national team member, three-time Olympian, a member of the world champion men's eight in 1987, and is a member of the U.S. National Rowing Hall of Fame as both an athlete and coach. He has served as the US Men's head coach since June 2018.
Paul Reedy is an Australian former rower. He is a dual Olympian, an Olympic and Commonwealth Games silver medalist who competed over a seventeen-year period at the elite level. He was a fourteen-time Australian national champion across both sculling and sweep-oared boats and then coached six Australian crews to national championship titles. He later coached at the London Rowing Club and was appointed as British national Head Coach from 2009. He took Great Britain's lightweight women's sculling crews to Olympic and World Championship gold medals in 2012 and 2016.
