The University of Miami holds a number of NFL draft records, including most first-round selections in a single draft and most consecutive drafts with at least one first-round selection. [1] As of 2024, at least one University of Miami player has been selected in 49 consecutive NFL drafts, dating back to 1975. [2] Among all colleges and universities, as of 2022, the University of Miami holds the all-time record for the most defensive linemen (49) and is tied with USC for the most wide receivers (40) to go on to play in the NFL. [3]

Derrick Dewan Brooks is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for his entire 14-year career in the National Football League (NFL) with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brooks played college football for the Florida State Seminoles, earning consensus All-American honors twice. He was selected by the Buccaneers in the first round of the 1995 NFL draft. However, his Bears tenure would only last two seasons due to injuries and inconsistent play. McNown spent his final two seasons as a backup for the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers. He was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2020.

He played college football for the Miami Hurricanes, earning consensus All-American honors in 1988.

Olsen also played for the Carolina Panthers, with whom he made three Pro Bowls, and became the first tight end in NFL history to record three consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards. Olsen played his final season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2020. Following his retirement Olsen joined Fox as a sportscaster and is currently the lead color commentator for the NFL on Fox.

The Carolina Panthers, who had the worst record for the 2010 NFL season at 2–14, had the right to the first selection in the draft, where they selected Auburn University quarterback Cam Newton, who was the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner. The 2011 draft is regarded as one of the most talented draft classes in NFL history, as 12 of the first 16 players have been selected to at least one Pro Bowl.

He played college football for the Miami Hurricanes, was recognized as an All-American, and was a member of two national championship teams. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the 1992 NFL Draft, and played professionally for the Bengals and the Seattle Seahawks.
