The following is a list of The Daily Show writers. The show, created by Madeleine Smithberg and Lizz Winstead is an American political satire and news satire. The show, which has aired since 1996, has employed a large and changing staff of writers.

He hosted The Problem with Jon Stewart on Apple TV+ from 2021 to 2023. Stewart has received numerous accolades, including 22 Primetime Emmy Awards, two Grammy Awards, and five Peabody Awards. He was honored with the Bronze Medallion in 2019, and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2022.

Starting on BBC Scotland and BBC Radio 4, his early work with Chris Morris on the radio series On the Hour transferred to television as The Day Today.

David Adam Javerbaum is an American comedy writer and lyricist. Javerbaum has won 13 Emmy Awards in his career, 11 of them for his work on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He runs the popular Twitter account @TheTweetOfGod, which at its peak had 6.2 million followers. The account was the basis for his play An Act of God, which opened on Broadway in the spring of 2015 starring Jim Parsons, and again in the spring of 2016 starring Sean Hayes. The play has gone on to receive over 100 productions in 20 countries and 11 languages.

The Colbert Report is an American late-night talk and news satire television program hosted by Stephen Colbert that aired four days a week on Comedy Central from October 17, 2005, to December 18, 2014, for 1,447 episodes. The show focused on a fictional anchorman character named Stephen Colbert, played by his real-life namesake. The character, described by Colbert as a "well-intentioned, poorly informed, high-status idiot", is a caricature of televised political pundits. Furthermore, the show satirized conservative personality-driven political talk programs, particularly Fox News's The O'Reilly Factor. The Colbert Report is a spin-off of Comedy Central's The Daily Show, where Colbert was a correspondent from 1997 to 2005.

John William Oliver is a British and American comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, and television host. Oliver started his career as a stand-up comedian in the United Kingdom. He came to wider attention for his work in the United States as Senior British Correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart from 2006 to 2013. Oliver won three Primetime Emmy Awards for writing for The Daily Show and he became the guest host for an eight-week period in 2013. He also co-hosted the comedy podcast The Bugle with Andy Zaltzman, with whom Oliver had previously worked on the radio series Political Animal. The Last Voyage of the Starship <i>Enterprise</i> 22nd episode of the 1st season of Saturday Night Live

"The Last Voyage of the Starship Enterprise" is a comedy sketch that first aired on May 29, 1976, during episode 22 of the first season of the NBC variety show, Saturday Night Live. The twelve-minute sketch was written by Michael O'Donoghue during a month-long process consulting with actor John Belushi. The sketch is a satire of the 1969 cancellation of Star Trek. The set design featured an effective replica of the bridge of the USS Enterprise. Dress rehearsal was difficult, with the writer doubting whether Belushi was able to pull off an effective parody of William Shatner's performance as Captain James Kirk. However, the result was a success, and O'Donoghue immediately congratulated Belushi after his performance and reflected that he had perfectly parodied Shatner as Kirk.

Bassem Raafat Mohamed Youssef is an Egyptian-American comedian, television host, and surgeon. Beginning his career with The B+ Show (2011), which was inspired by his experience during the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, he later rose to prominence as the host of El Bernameg (2011–2014), a satirical comedy show focused on Egyptian politics. In 2015, Youssef hosted the 43rd International Emmy Awards in New York City.

Dan McCoy is an American comedian and was an Emmy-winning writer for the news satire program The Daily Show. He is the producer and co-host of the movie podcast The Flop House, which he co-hosts with comedian/bar owner Stuart Wellington and former Daily Show head writer Elliott Kalan. He is the creator and co-star of the animated webseries 9 AM Meeting, which won an MTV development deal at the 2010 New York Television Festival.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is an American late-night news and political satire talk show hosted by Stephen Colbert, which premiered on September 8, 2015. Produced by Spartina Productions and CBS Studios, it is the second iteration of CBS' Late Show franchise. The program is taped at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, the same studio as its predecessor Late Show with David Letterman. It airs live to tape in most U.S. markets weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT, as with its competitors Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Daniel Gurewitch is an American comedian, writer, and actor. He has worked as a senior writer for American comedy website CollegeHumor, and as a writer for the late-night talk and news satire show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Adam Lowitt is an American standup comedian, a four-time Emmy-winning, six-time nominated co-executive producer and supervising producer for the news satire program The Daily Show. He performs regularly in New York and performed on Comedy Central as part of John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show In 2012, Adam was selected to perform at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal as part of their New Faces Showcase. Adam often performs locally and has opened for other comedians he worked with at The Daily Show. From December 2015 until March 2017, he was an on-air contributor on The Daily Show. He was an executive producer on Sacha Baron Cohen's 2018 comedy series Who Is America?.

Zhubin Parang is an American comedian and television writer. He is currently a producer and writer on the political satire series The Daily Show.
