There are 28 universities in Telangana. Of these, there are 17 state universities, three deemed universities, three central and five private universities. The Osmania University is the largest in the state.[ citation needed ] It is also the oldest university in the state, established in 1918. [1]

Apart from the universities, there are several research and educational institutes in Telangana. These include four institutes of national importance, which are the AIIMS Bibinagar, IIT Hyderabad, NIPER Hyderabad, and NIT Warangal. [2]

Osmania University is a collegiate public state university located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Mir Osman Ali Khan, the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad, issued a firman calling for its creation on 29 August 1917. It is the third oldest university in southern India, and the first to be established in the erstwhile Kingdom of Hyderabad. It was the first Indian university to use Urdu as a language of instruction, although with English as a compulsory subject. As of 2012, the university hosts 3,700 international students from more than 80 nations.

Karimnagar is also known as Elagandula is a city and District Headquarters in the Indian state of Telangana. Karimnagar is a major urban agglomeration and third largest city in the state. It is governed by the Municipal Corporation and is the headquarters of the Karimnagar district It is situated on the banks of Manair River, which is a tributary of the Godavari River. It is the third largest and fastest growing urban settlement in the state, according to 2011 census. It has registered a population growth rate of 45.46% and 38.87% respectively over the past two decades between 1991 and 2011, which is highest growth rate among major cities of Telangana. It serves as a major educational and health hub for the northern districts of Telangana. It is a major business center and widely known for its agricultural and granite industries, earning the nickname "City of Granites."

National Institute of Technology Warangal is a public technical and research university located in Warangal, India. It is recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. The foundation stone for this institute was laid by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on 1959, the first in the chain of 31 NITs in the country. The institute was renamed as the National Institute of Technology, Warangal in 2002.

Hanamkonda district, is a district located in the northern region of the Indian state of Telangana. The district headquarters are located at Hanamakonda. The district borders the districts of Jangaon, Karimnagar, Warangal, Bhupalpally and Siddipet.

Osmania Medical College, formerly known as Hyderabad Medical School, is a public medical college in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was founded in 1846 by the 5th Nizam of Hyderabad and Berar, Afzal ud Dowla, Asaf Jah V. The college was originally affiliated to Osmania University system, now it is affiliated to the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, and the Osmania General Hospital. After the establishment of the Osmania University in 1919, the school was renamed Osmania Medical College, after the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan.

Siddipet is a city in the Indian state of Telangana. It is a municipality and serves as the headquarters of Siddipet district. It is located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) north of the state capital, Hyderabad, and 92 kilometres (57 mi) from Warangal. The District Headquarters and police Commissionerate is located at Siddipet City.

Hyderabad is an important seat of learning in southern India. The city hosts three central universities, three deemed universities, and six state universities. Osmania University is one of the oldest universities in India. Many institutes for education like University of Hyderabad, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, International Institute of Information Technology, Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Hyderabad, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani – Hyderabad, Sri Sarada Institute of Science and Technology and medical colleges like Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences are located there. Also based in the city are the Institute of Public Enterprise and the National Academy of Legal Studies & Research (NALSAR). Hyderabad has various research institutes such as the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology. It is also the home of Maulana Azad National Urdu University as well as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University.

Jangaon (Janagama) is a city and the district headquarters of Jangaon district in the Indian state of Telangana. It is also the mandal and divisional headquarters of Jangaon Mandal and Jangaon revenue division respectively. It is about 85 kilometres (53 mi) from the state capital Hyderabad. It lies on the National Highway 163

<span class="mw-page-title-main">B. Vinod Kumar</span> Indian politician

Boianapalli Vinod Kumar is an Indian politician and former Member of Parliament, he served as Vice-chairman of Telangana State Planning Board (2019-2023). He represented the Karimnagar constituency of Telangana State in the 16th Lok Sabha (2014-2019) and Hanamkonda constituency in the 14th Lok Sabha (2004-2009). He is one of the founding members of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party and is presently a politburo member and served as party's deputy Floor Leader in the 16th Lok Sabha.

Husnabad is a town in the Siddipet district of the Indian state of Telangana. It was a part of Karimnagar district before re-organisation of districts in the state. It is located in Husnabad mandal.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kothapalli Jayashankar</span> Indian writer

Kothapalli Jayashankar, popularly known as Professor Jayashankar, was an Indian academic and social activist. He was a leading ideologue of the Telangana Movement. He fought for a separate state beginning in 1952. He often stated that unequal distribution of river water was the root cause of the separate Telangana movement. He was the former Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University and an activist in the Separate Telangana Movement.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences</span>

Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences is a medical college in Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Telangana. The institute with 150 medical seats is attached to an 800-bedded Multi speciality hospital for world class clinical training of its students as per the Medical Council of India. The college is currently affiliated to the KNR University of Health Sciences, Warangal, Telangana and is recognized by the Government of India.

Vundela Malakonda Reddy was an engineer who is better known as a Telugu poet and great writer. He is also the founder of Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, Gandipet, Hyderabad. Reddy was born on 23 August 1932 in Inimerla, Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh. He died on 20 April 2022 in Hyderabad, Telangana.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ch. Mohan Rao</span>

Mohan Rao Chintalagiri is an Indian molecular biologist renowned for his contributions to the fields of biophysics and molecular biology. He has earned international recognition for his work on molecular chaperones as well as his contribution to the field of photoacoustic spectroscopy in health and disease. He is a former Director of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) and served as a CSIR-Distinguished Scientist. He received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 1999, the highest science honor in India.

Telangana has multiple institutes of higher education universities along with numerous primary and secondary schools.

University Arts & Science College is one of the oldest Arts and Science colleges in Telangana. It is located in Subedari, Hanamakonda. The college offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. It is also called the second campus of the Kakatiya University.

Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) is a public university in the city of Warangal, Telangana, India. University is named after its poet, and political activist of Telangana – Kaloji Narayana Rao.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">T-Works</span> Prototyping centre in India

T-Works is India's largest prototyping centre. T-Works is an initiative of the Government of Telangana that is aimed to create and celebrate a culture of hobbyists, makers, and innovators in India; who explore and experiment without the fear of failure. T-Works Phase-1 is 78,000 sqft building, situated near T-Hub in Raidurg, Hyderabad, Telanagana. T-Works has over 200 industry grade tools worth 11.5 crore. T-Works Phase-2 will be further expanded to 2.5 lakh sqft over a 4.89-acre campus. To encourage innovators from smaller towns and rural areas, satellite centres of T-Works will also be set up in towns such as Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, Siddipet, Nizamabad, where IT towers are being set up by the Government of Telangana.
