James Kenneth Hahn is an American lawyer and politician. A Democrat, Hahn was elected the 40th mayor of Los Angeles in 2001. He served until 2005, at which time he was defeated in his bid for re-election. Prior to his term as Mayor, Hahn served in several other capacities for the city of Los Angeles, including deputy city attorney (1975–1979), city controller (1981–1985) and city attorney (1985–2001). Hahn is the only individual in the city's history to have been elected to all three citywide offices. He is currently a sitting judge on the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Eric Michael Garcetti is an American politician and diplomat who has been the United States ambassador to India since May 11, 2023. He was the 42nd mayor of Los Angeles from 2013 until 2022. A member of the Democratic Party, he was first elected in the 2013 election, and re-elected in 2017. A former member of the Los Angeles City Council, Garcetti served as City Council president from 2006 to 2012. He was the city's first elected Jewish mayor, and its second consecutive Mexican-American mayor. He was elected as the youngest mayor in over 100 years, having been 42 at the time of his inauguration. Upon nomination of President Joe Biden after a previously failed nomination the year before, Garcetti was finally confirmed as Ambassador to India by the Senate on a 52–42 vote on March 15, 2023.
Marco Antonio Solís Sosa is a Mexican musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer. Born and raised in Ario de Rosales, Michoacán, Solís began his musical career at the age of six, performing with his brother Joel Solís as Los Hermanitos Solís. In 1975, he co-founded Los Bukis, of which he was the lead vocalist, songwriter and guitarist. The band split up after nearly two decades of success, with Solís pursuing a solo career. Solís released his debut solo album, En Pleno Vuelo, in 1996 by Fonovisa Records.

¿Qué dice la gente? is a Spanish-language adaptation of the American game show Family Feud which was produced in the United States, that aired on Spanish-language channel Telefutura in 2006. It was itself the American version of Mexican game show, 100 mexicanos dijeron, originally hosted by Marco Antonio Regil for two seasons from 2006 until 2008 followed by Omar Chaparro who took over for the last nine weeks of the series when it was filmed in Miami. Jackie Vilarino and Survivor: Nicaragua Contestant Brenda Lowe both served as co-hosts for the show's run. The show premiered on June 12, 2006, and ended on November 14, 2008. In 2008, the show was reduced to a half-hour in order to pair up with the Spanish-language version of the short-lived 1982-83 American game show Child's Play under the name Dame la Pista or hosted by Alessandra Rosaldo, but it was ultimately cancelled along with ¿Qué dice la gente? for "unknown" reasons.

XHDRBZ is a Mexican sketch comedy television series created by Eugenio Derbez. It premiered on Canal de las Estrellas on 15 July 2002. XHDRBZ emulated a television channel that broadcasts sketches. The series ended production in 2004, due to Derbez wanting to focus on other projects. The final episode aired on 10 March 2004.

The contest was held for the second consecutive time at the Salon Teotihuacan of the Centro Internacional de Convenciones Acapulco of Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico on September 19, 1998. Thirty-two contestants of the Mexican Republic competed for the national title, featuring the first back to back victories in Nuestra Belleza Mexico history: Silvia Salgado from Nuevo León was crowned by outgoing Nuestra Belleza México titleholder Katty Fuentes, also from Nuevo León. Salgado competed at Miss Universe 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago where she was a Semi-finalist in the Top 10. She was the second Neoleonesa to win this title.
100 latinos dijeron is the Spanish-language adaptation of the American program Family Feud, and is also a remake of the short-lived 2006–08 Spanish-language adaptation of Feud called ¿Qué dice la gente? which aired on TeleFutura. The series, hosted by Marco Antonio Regil who also previously hosted ¿Que dice la gente? from 2006 until 2008 and 100 mexicanos dijeron from 2001 until 2006 respectively was transmitted by MundoMax, premiered on September 9, 2013. This show was cancelled in 2016 due to its network, MundoMax, being dissolved. In 2018, it was announced that Estrella TV had signed a multi-year licensing agreement with Fremantle to revive the show. It was planned to debut in the early part of 2019. On February 12, 2019, it was announced that the revival will be hosted by Armando Hernández and would premiere on Estrella TV on February 19. On August 1, 100 Latinos dijeron was renewed for a second season and started adding comedian Mau Nieto as new host replacing Armando Hernandez. On October 2, 2022, an all-star celebrity version based on the 2015 American version of Celebrity Family Feud under the name ¿Qué Dicen los Famosos? hosted by Rodrigo Vidal airs on Telemundo.
Rosario Tijeras is a Mexican telenovela created by Adriana Pelusi and Carlos Quintanilla that premiered on Azteca 13 on 30 October 2016, and ended on 14 December 2019 on Azteca 7. The series based on the Colombian drama of the same name produced in 2010 and starring María Fernanda Yépez. It stars Bárbara de Regil as the titular character. The series follows the life of a young student with behavior problems who suffers abuse and abuses by her stepfather and decides to start making her life on the wrong path to drugs and take revenge on all who hurt her.

The 2022 Los Angeles mayoral election was held on November 8, 2022, to elect the mayor of Los Angeles, California. A top-two primary was held on June 7, 2022. Candidates could win the election outright by receiving more than 50% of the vote, but no candidate received a majority. More than forty candidates formed committees to run. Twenty-seven filed their declaration of intention to collect signatures for the ballot, and of these twelve qualified.
