Howard Hadden Halladay was a farmer, insurance agent, and Canadian federal politician. He served as a member of the House of Commons of Canada from 1917 to 1921, sitting as a Unionist candidate in government. He also served as a municipal politician from 1913 to 1918 as mayor of Hanna, Alberta.

John Mackintosh (1890-1963) was a Canadian provincial politician from Alberta. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta as an independent from 1930 to 1935. Previously he was mayor of Brooks, and from 1952 to 1958 was the first mayor of the newly established town of Bowness.

James Nation Hillyer was a federal Canadian politician who served as a Member of Parliament for the electoral district of Lethbridge and later Medicine Hat–Cardston–Warner. It was only the fourth time in provincial history that saw a change of governing party, and was the last provincial election for both the Alberta Progressive Conservative and Wildrose parties, which merged in 2017 to form the United Conservative Party.

A provincewide vote on equalization and Daylight Saving Time was also held.
