Mega Builders is a documentary television series appearing on the Discovery Channel and Science Channel. Each episode takes a look into the people and the machines involved into the construction of many huge engineering projects.

Contents

Discovery Channel Taiwan broadcast a version of the series in 2022 that covered how the residential high-rise building Tao Zhu Yin Yuan was built over 11 years. [1]

Reception

Noting that the show covers the Bhumibol Bridge, Gotthard Base Tunnel, and North American and Madrid initiatives to reduce traffic congestion, The Daily Telegraph 's Kirsty Heysen said, "This great series some of these hugely ambitious undertakings." [4] Brad Newsome of The Age praised the show, writing, "It's not your average construction-telly yawn tonight as we follow the annual building of Sweden's famed ice hotel." [5] The Sunday Mail sated, "Colourful characters and bigger-than Ben Hur projects fill this latest series about the world's largest and most mind-boggling engineering challenges." [6] The Brazilian newspaper Correio 24 Horas  [ pt ] wrote that Mega Builders "is quite enlightening about the reasons why Rio de Janeiro, the Olympic city, is currently left without any good-quality stadium in working order". [7]

Richard Hammond's Engineering Connections is a British documentary series originally broadcast on the National Geographic Channel, and later on BBC2. It is presented by Richard Hammond, and looks at how engineers and designers use historic inventions and clues from the natural world in ingenious ways to develop new buildings and machines. The show's format is very similar to that of James Burke's 1978 documentary series, Connections. The first series premièred on 8 September 2008, on National Geographic, and on 1 March 2010, on BBC2. The first series contained four episodes. The second series premièred on 7 September 2009, on National Geographic, and on 8 May 2010, on BBC2. The second series contained six episodes. The third series premièred on 8 May 2011, on BBC2 and contained six episodes. The BBC2 broadcasts of the first two series have a slightly shorter running time and contain less information than the original National Geographic broadcasts, with on average one minute of footage cut from every episode. None of the three series of the programme are available to purchase on DVD in the UK, however, all three can be watched on demand for subscribers of National Geographic on Sky, Virgin Media and BT Vision. My Best Friend's Story is a 2020 Chinese drama television series directed by Shen Yan and starring Ni Ni and Liu Shishi. It is adapted from the novel The Golden Years (流金岁月) written by Yi Shu. The series follows the story of friendship between two stunningly beautiful women who forged a close bond when they were still young. They supported each other through thick and thin. The series airs on CCTV-8 and iQIYI starting from December 28, 2020 to January 15, 2021.
