Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi Sambhali is an Indian Sunni Islamic scholar who established Al-Noor Public School, Sambhal. He is an alumnus of Darul Uloom Deoband, Delhi University and the Jamia Millia Islamia. Biography

Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi is a grandson of Ismail Sambhali who was a hadith scholar and an activist of the Indian Independence movement. [1] Ismail Sambhali was professor of hadith at the Madrasa Shahi in Moradabad and his students include Athar Mubarakpuri and Nizamuddin Asir Adrawi. [2] Najeeb Qasmi studied traditional dars-e-nizami at the Darul Uloom Deoband and graduated from there in 1994. [3] [4] He received a B.A. from Jamia Millia Islamia and an M.A in Arabic from the Delhi University. He completed his doctoral studies at the Jamia Millia Islamia. [5] [4]

Qasmi established Al-Noor Public School in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh on 21 December 2018. The foundation stone was laid down by teachers of the Darul Uloom Deoband and Jamia Millia Islamia. [6] His articles have appeared in Monthly al-Bayyinat of Jamia Binoria and in Jahan-e-Urdu. [7] [8] His articles regularly appear in The Inquilab, The Munsif Daily, The Siasat Daily, Urdu Times, Avadhnama and other Indian and Pakistani newspapers like Daily Jang and Daily Express. [9] [10] He also writes on his website, which was released in a function held in Riyadh on 4 January 2013 by a number of Indian scholars. [11] [5] [12] Saudi Gazette in its report called the website a brain child of Qasmi. [13] At the launch program, Qasmi said, "Given the popularity of the Internet, many new websites with Islamic names are launched regularly, misinterpreting Islamic teachings. This website provides reliable Islamic content for users". [3] He launched Hajj-e-Mabroor application to help provide accurate information about Hajj and Umrah. [14] It was released in 2015 in by Muhammad Mustafa Azmi. [15] [16] [17] The application has articles, books and videos of Qasmi in English, Hindi and Urdu covering various aspects of Hajj and Umrah. [17] [18] In 2019, Qasmi was conferred with the Watan Ke Ratna Award. [19]

Literary works

Qasmi's set of 38 books was released by Muhammad Mustafa Azmi whilst his six books were released in Ansari auditorium of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) by the former VC of JMI, Talat Ahmad, Akhtarul Wasey and Abul Qasim Nomani. [20] [21] His books include: [22]

Mahmud Hasan Deobandi was an Indian Muslim scholar and an activist of the Indian independence movement, who co-founded the Jamia Millia Islamia university and launched the Silk Letter Movement for the freedom of India. He was the first student to study at the Darul Uloom Deoband seminary. His teachers included Muhammad Qasim Nanautawi and Mahmud Deobandi, and he was authorized in Sufism by Imdadullah Muhajir Makki and Rashid Ahmad Gangohi.

Kifayatullah Dehlawi, was an Indian Islamic scholar and a Hanafi jurist, who served as the first president of the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, and the second rector of the Madrasa Aminia. He was regarded as the Grand Mufti of India.

Jamiatul Qasim Darul Uloom -il-Islamia is an Islamic seminary in India. The Jamia was established by Mufti Mahfoozur Rahman Usmani, an Islamic scholar of India. in 1989, Indo-Nepal border, in Supaul, Bihar. The Jamia also serves as a center for National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language and National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology.

Muhammad Salim Qasmi Siddiqi was an Indian Muslim scholar who co-founded the Darul Uloom Waqf in Deoband and served as its first rector. He was an alumnus of Darul Uloom Deoband. He received the fourth Shah Waliullah Award and was honoured with the Mark of Distinction from Egypt.

Muhammad Sufyan Qasmi Siddiqi is an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar and current rector of Darul Uloom Waqf, Deoband.

Muhammad Yunus Jaunpuri was an Indian Islamic hadith scholar who served as the senior professor of hadith at the Mazahir Uloom in Saharanpur. He was one of the senior students and disciples of Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi. He taught at the Mazahir Uloom and authored books such as Al-Yawaqit al-Ghaliyah, Kitab at-Tawhid and Nawadir al-Hadith.

Zayn al-Abidin Sajjad Meerthi (1910–1991) was an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar and historian and head of the Islamic studies department of Jamia Millia Islamia. His book Tarikh-e-Millat is required reading in the syllabus of Darul Uloom Deoband and in madrasas affiliated with it.

Saeed Ahmad Palanpuri, was an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar and author who served as Shaykh al-Hadith and Principal of Darul Uloom Deoband. A number of his books are required readings in Darul Uloom Deoband.

Noor Alam Khalil Amini was an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar, academic and a litterateur of Arabic and Urdu. He was a senior professor of Arabic language and literature at the Darul Uloom Deoband. His book Falastin Fi Intezari Salahidin was subject of a doctoral study at Assam University and his book Miftahul Arabia is part of dars-e-nizami curricula in various madrasas.

Aziz-ul-Rahman Usmani was an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar who served as first Grand Mufti of Darul Uloom Deoband. He is best known for his Fatawa Darul Uloom Deoband. His brother was Shabbir Ahmad Usmani.

Abdur Razzaq Iskander was a Pakistani Islamic scholar and writer. He was the chancellor and senior hadith-professor of Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia, emir of the Aalmi Majlis Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nubuwwat and the president of Wifaqul Madaris in Pakistan. Zafeeruddin Miftāhi was an Indian Muslim scholar and jurist who served as a Mufti of Darul Uloom Deoband and the second president of Islamic Fiqh Academy. He compiled the religious verdicts of Azizur Rahman Usmani, called the Fatāwa Darul Uloom Deoband in twelve volumes and wrote books including Islām Ka Nizām-e-Masājid, Islām Ka Nizām Iffat-o-Asmat and Tārīkh-e-Masājid.

Abul Kalam Qasmi was an Indian scholar, literary critic, and a poet of the Urdu language who served as the dean of the Faculty of Arts at the Aligarh Muslim University. He was the editor of Tehzeeb-ul-Akhlaq and authored books such as The Criticism of Poetry. He translated E. M. Forster's Aspects of the Novel into Urdu as Novel ka Fun. He was conferred with the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2009, and the Ghalib Award in 2013.

Abdul Khaliq Sambhali was an Indian Muslim scholar and writer who served as the vice-rector of Darul Uloom Deoband. He was an alumnus of the Deoband seminary and had studied with scholars including Mahmood Hasan Gangohi, Muhammad Tayyib Qasmi and Syed Fakhruddin Ahmad. He translated Abdul Majeed al-Zindani's Al-Tawḥīd into Urdu and gave religious discourses criticizing the Maududism.

Mazahir Uloom Jadeed is an Islamic seminary in Saharanpur, India, which split from the Mazahir Uloom as an independent and separate seminary in 1983. It publishes a monthly journal entitled Mazāhir-e-Uloom. As of March 2022, Muhammad Aaqil Saharanpuri is the rector and senior professor of hadith at the seminary.

Muhammad Ismail Katki was an Indian Islamic scholar and writer. He was associated with the Khatme Nabuwat movement in India, particularly in the state of Odisha. He served as the first Ameer-e-Shari'at of Imarat-e-Shar'ia Odisha and the third president of Jamiat Ulama Odisha.
