The National Library of Guatemala (Biblioteca Nacional) is the national library of Guatemala. It is located in Zone 1 of Guatemala City near the National Palace of Guatemala.

The library has 7 reading rooms among them are:

School reading room with 225,000 books.

General reading room with 110,000 books together with collections of old books separate from the old books reading room.

Old books reading room with 30,000 books.

Blind people reading room with 700 books and 1000 copies of audio material, also there is virtual library for blind people with 35,000 titles. [1]

Marco Antonio Cuevas Cruz son of Angel Rafael Cuevas del Cid and Maria Soledad Cruz Sierra. He had three brothers: Marta Cuevas del León, Rafael Cuevas del Cid and José Rodolfo Cuevas Cruz. He studied at Colégio de Infantes and the Liceo Guatemala, where he graduated as valedictorian. In 1955 he represented Guatemala in the second Pan American Games, having won the gold medal in rowing competitions, along with his team.

Its management has been transferred to the Autonomous Community of Galicia through the Department of Culture of the Galician Government.

Alicia Girón García was a Spanish librarian. She began working in the Madrid public library system in 1969 where she helped plan expansion and digitisation and eventually became its director. From 1983 Girón was deputy director-general of libraries at the Ministry of Culture helping to draft a law mandating library services in settlements with more than 5,000 inhabitants. She later joined the Biblioteca Nacional de España, heading its bibliographic processing department and launching a programme to digitise its collection. Girón was appointed director of the library on 24 May 1990, the first woman to hold the position. She remained in post until 9 January 1992, overseeing the reformation of the library as an independent organisation and establishing an interlibrary loan system. Girón later headed the Biblioteca Nacional de Préstamo and the National Newspaper Library before joining the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as director of libraries in 1995. She remained in post until 2008.
