Om Thanvi is a Hindi writer, senior journalist, editor and critic. [1] Thanvi is currently the founding vice-chancellor of Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication. [2] His works include work Apne Apne Agyey, [3] and Muanjodaro. [4]

Early life

Om Thanvi was born in the town of Phalodi in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan. [5] His father was an educationalist and editor of two educational journals. He grew up in Bikaner and took his post graduation degree in Business Administration from Rajasthan University.[ citation needed ]

Career

Thanvi started journalism in his student days in 1977 contributing to weekly Marudeep daily Yugpaksh (Bikaner) and weekly Ravivar (Calcutta). After completing his Masters in Commerce Thanvi started his mainstream journalism in 1978 with Itwari, a weekly paper from the Rajasthan Patrika in Jaipur, Rajasthan. From 1980 to 1989 he worked in Rajasthan Patrika. After this, he joined the Hindi daily Jansatta of the Indian Express Group and was associated with this newspaper for the next twenty-six years (from 1989 to 2015), serving as a journalist, resident editor (Chandigarh edition, 1989―99), and editor (1999―2015). After separating from the Jansatta, Thanvi taught as a visiting professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) at the Center for Media Studies, School of Social Sciences. He is currently the founding vice-chancellor of Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication, Jaipur (Rajasthan). [2] He is holding additional charge of V-C, MDSU, Ajmer and V-C, Rajasthan State Skills University, Jaipur.

Thakur Kesari Singh Barhath was a prominent Indian revolutionary leader,freedom fighter, and educationist from the state of Rajasthan. He was the patriarch of the Barhath family, members of which actively participated in anti-British activities including his son Kunwar Pratap Singh Barhath and his brother Thakur Zorawar Singh Barhath.He was also known as Rajasthan Kesari. He is known for dissuading Maharana Fateh Singh from attending the 1903 Delhi Durbar through his Dingal (Rajasthani) work Chetavani ra Chungatya. He was the founder of 'Veer Bharat Sabha', a revolutionary organization based in Rajasthan. He also co-founded 'Rajasthan Seva Sangh' and 'Rajputana-Madhya Bharat Sabha'. He wrote extensively on the theme of nationalism and independence, and also composed poems in Dingal.

Kripalani, Rahvari ke Sawal on Chandrashekhar and Manjil se Jyada Safar on V P Singh. He was a close associate of the Indian freedom fighter and political leader Jayaprakash Narayan and was also part of a Steering Committee of JP Movement.

Girija Shankar Sharma is a historian and scholar of Rajasthani as well as Hindi language literature. He received a Master of Arts (M.A.) in History from Dungar College and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. He joined the Rajasthan State Archives (Bikaner) in 1963 and retired as Deputy Director of the Archives in 1996.

The Rajasthan Film Festival Award ceremony is a set of awards presented annually to honor both artistic and technical excellence of artists in Rajasthani cinema as well as in other Regional Cinema. The awards began in 2013. The 10th edition of the RFF award ceremony was held on 22 September 2022 to 24 September 2022 at Maan Place, Jaipur. Tusshar Kapoor and Mahima Chaudhry was the host of the evening with Film Critic Komal Nahta. The theme for the festival is Unity in Diversity and 24 awards will be awarded in 2 broad categories, (1) For films produced in Rajasthan and, (2) For films produced in other regions of India. In order to honor personalities that have been dedicated to the industry, a Lifetime Achievement Award is also presented at the ceremony.

Hari Shankar Vyas is an Indian journalist, and the Chief-editor and publisher of Naya India, a daily national Hindi newspaper. He is also the consultant for ETV's Hindi channels since 2009. He started anchoring-producing five-day weekly programme for ETV Network Hindi Channels since Feb 2009. He writes a daily column "Apen to Kahege" for Naya India and weekly column Gupshup. which appears every Sunday in different Hindi newspaper. as well as English newspaper, the Sunday Pioneer. Prior, he served 13 years as editor, news of the Jansatta. Since the times of Jansatta, he has been writing a Sunday column titled GUPSHUP, both in Hindi and in English. Ratan Lal Joshi (1922-2006) was an Indian independence activist, journalist, writer. Born on 28 June 1922 at Churu, a desert city then in Bikaner State. Joshi was involved with the Indian freedom struggle from the age of 18 and suffered incarceration during the Quit India movement. Choosing journalism as a career, he joined Harijan weekly founded by Mahatma Gandhi and trained under the then chief editor, Kishorelal Bhai Mashrulawa. Later, he worked at several publishing houses and edited journals such as Bhai-Bahin, Samaj Sewak, Veer Bhoomi, Rajasthan, Rajasthan Samaj, and Kul Lakshmi. Lal kile main, Krantikari Prer ne Ke Srot and Mrityunjayee are three books published by him.

Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication (HJU) is a state university located at Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. In similar name, but slightly different abbreviation of HJUJ, a university was established in 2012 by the Congress govt through an Act of the Government of Rajasthan which was closed in 2015 by the next BJP govt. The Congress govt returned to power in December 2018 and a new university for journalism and mass communication — HJU — was constituted through the State Legislature's Act No. 11 of 2019, at the premises of historical Khasa Kothi.

Shakti Dan Kaviya was a poet, writer, critic, and scholar from Rajasthan, India. Kaviya had served as the department head of Hindi as well as Rajasthani section multiple times at Jai Narain Vyas University. He was considered an authority in Dingal (Rajasthani) literature as well as a great scholar of Hindi and Braj-Bhasha. Kaviya was also a Sahitya Akademi Award recipient for his work 'Dharti Ghani Rupali'

Thakur Akshay Singh Ratnu was a Rajasthani, Brajbhasha and Hindi poet from Rajasthan. His penned poems criticising the British policies of divide & rule. He is considered as one of the modern traditionalist poets. He was a scholar of Hindi, Rajasthani, Dingal(Old Rajasthani), Urdu, Sanskrit and Prakrit. He has been awarded with epithets of 'Sahitya Bhushan', 'Sahitya Ratna', and 'Kavi Ratna'.

Thakur Zorawar Singh Barhath was an Indian revolutionary and anti-British activist. He is known for the assassination attempt on the Viceroy of India, Lord Hardinge by throwing a bomb on him during the procession in New Delhi. He is also called "Chandra Shekhar Azad of Rajasthan".
