Pahang State Executive Council

The Pahang State Executive Council is the executive authority of the Government of Pahang, Malaysia. The Council is composed of the Menteri Besar, appointed by the Sultan on the basis that he is able to command a majority in the Pahang State Legislative Assembly, a number of members made up of members of the Assembly, the State Secretary, the State Legal Adviser and the State Financial Officer.

This Council is similar in structure and role to the Cabinet of Malaysia, while being smaller in size. As federal and state responsibilities differ, there are a number of portfolios that differ between the federal and state governments.

Members of the Council are selected by the Menteri Besar, appointed by the Sultan. The Council has no ministry, but instead a number of committees; each committee will take care of certain state affairs, activities and departments. Members of the Council are always the chair of a committee.

Mohd Sharkar bin Shamsudin is a Malaysian politician who has served as Speaker of the Pahang State Legislative Assembly since December 2022. He served as a Member of the Pahang State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under Menteris Besar Adnan Yaakob and Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail from April 2004 to November 2022 and Member of the Pahang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Lanchang from November 1999 to November 2022. He is also a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the BN coalition. He is also a member of the Supreme Council of UMNO.

Dato' Sri Haji Wan Rosdy bin Wan Ismail is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 14th Menteri Besar of Pahang since May 2018 and Member of the Pahang State Legislative Assembly for Jelai (MLA) since March 2004. He served as Member of the Pahang State Executive Council (EXCO) from March 2008 to May 2018. He is a member and State Chairman of Pahang of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He has also served as the Vice President of UMNO since March 2023.

Mohamad Nizar bin Mohamad Najib is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Pahang State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail since December 2022 and Member of the Pahang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Peramu Jaya since November 2022. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the BN coalition. He is also the son of Najib Razak, the 6th and former Prime Minister.

Johari bin Harun was a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Pahang State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail from December 2022 and Member of the Pahang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Pelangai from November 2022 to his death in August 2023 respectively. He was a member and Division Chief of Bentong of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the BN coalition. He was also the group CEO of Gading Group.
