Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is a cancer research and treatment center located in Buffalo,New York. Founded by surgeon Roswell Park in 1898,the center was the first in the United States to specifically focus on cancer research. The center is usually called Roswell Park in short. The center,which conducts clinical research on cancer as well as the development new drugs,provides advanced treatment for all forms of adult and pediatric cancer,and serves as a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is as of 2019,the only upstate New York facility to hold the National Cancer Institute designation of "comprehensive cancer center".
A cancer survivor is a person with cancer of any type who is still living. Whether a person becomes a survivor at the time of diagnosis or after completing treatment,whether people who are actively dying are considered survivors,and whether healthy friends and family members of the cancer patient are also considered survivors,varies from group to group. Some people who have been diagnosed with cancer reject the term survivor or disagree with some definitions of it.
The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization cancer advocacy organization based in Silver Spring,Maryland. It is the oldest survivor-led cancer advocacy organization in the country,and works to effect policy change at the national level.

The Journal of the National Cancer Institute (JNCI) is a peer-reviewed medical journal covering research in oncology that was established in August 1940. It is published monthly by Oxford University Press and is edited by Patricia A. Ganz. It was merged with Cancer Treatment Reports in January 1988. JNCI used to be the official journal of the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI);however,in 1996,the NCI and JNCI agreed to grow apart. Over the next five years,JNCI became independent of the NCI.
Gibbs Cancer Center &Research Institute is a cancer treatment and research facility in Upstate South Carolina. Gibbs Cancer Center is associated with the NCI Community Cancer Centers Program and the Medical University of South Carolina. Gibbs has several locations across the upstate of South Carolina,including Comprehensive Cancer Centers at both Spartanburg Medical Center and Pelham Medical Center. Additional infusion facilities are located in Gaffney,Union,Mary Black and North Grove.
Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) is a cancer treatment and research center in Seattle,Washington. Established in 1998,this nonprofit provides clinical oncology care for patients treated at its three partner organizations:Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center,Seattle Children's and UW Medicine. Together,these four institutions form the Fred Hutch/University of Washington Cancer Consortium.
Sandra M. Swain is an American oncologist,breast cancer specialist and clinical translational researcher. She is currently a professor of Medicine at the Georgetown University School of Medicine and the Associate Dean for Research Development at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) and MedStar Health as well as an adjunct professor of Medicine at the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine of the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. She is also a past President of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO),serving from 2012 through 2013.
Anna María Nápoles is an American behavioral epidemiologist and science administrator. She is the Scientific Director of the Intramural Research Program at the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. She was a professor and epidemiologist at University of California,San Francisco.
Julie Kathleen Silver is an American medical researcher who is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Harvard Medical School. Her research considers musculoskeletal disorders and cancer rehabilitation. Silver is involved with several initiatives to improve gender equity in medicine.
Lucile L. Adams-Campbell is the first African-American woman to receive a PhD in epidemiology in the United States. She serves as the Professor of Oncology at Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and associate director for Minority Health at the Georgetown University Medical Center. She is a Fellow of the National Academy of Medicine and the Washington DC Hall of Fame.
Mary Kathryn "Katie" Haltiwanger Schmitz is an American exercise physiologist. She is the Associate Director of Population Sciences at Penn State University College of Medicine and a Full Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Maryam Beheshti Lustberg is an American breast oncologist. She is the Director of The Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Chief of Breast Medical Oncology at Yale Cancer Center. Lustberg previously served as the Medical Director of Supportive Care at Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center and President-Elect of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer. She is also an associate editor for the peer-reviewed medical journal covering oncology nursing with respect to cancer survivors called Journal of Cancer Survivorship.
Larissa Nekhlyudov is an American general internist. She is a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School,primary care physician at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Clinical Director of Internal Medicine for Cancer Survivors at the Dana–Farber Cancer Institute.
Ann Hart Partridge is an American medical oncologist. She is the founder and director of the Young and Strong Program for Young Women with Breast Cancer at the Susan F. Smith Center for Women's Cancers at the Dana–Farber Cancer Institute.
Beth Young Karlan is an American gynecologic oncologist. In 2008,she was named editor-in-chief of the medical journals Gynecologic Oncology and Gynecologic Oncology Reports. In 2012,Karlan was appointed by the White House to serve on the National Cancer Advisory Board,and in 2015,she was elected to the National Academy of Medicine.
Sherene Loi is an Australian oncologist. She is the 2021 winner of the Australian Prime Ministers Prize for Science,in the category of Frank Fenner Prize for Life Scientist of the Year. Loi is Head of Translational Breast Cancer Research,within the Peter Macallum Cancer Centre. Loi's research has advanced understanding into breast cancer,developing and implementing an immune system biomarker. This biomarker will enable improved management for people with advanced cancer. This biomarker is now part of routine pathology reporting across many countries and also is included in the World Health Organisation Classification of Tumours.
Dawn Luryn Hershman is an American oncologist. Since 2020,she has served as the American Cancer Society Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Columbia University.
