Patti Hammond, known as Mama Blue, was a Pro Football Hall of Famer as a superfan of the Seattle Seahawks. [2] [3] [4] She has been referred to as the "Grande Dame" of Seahawks superfans. [5] [6]

Life and career

Patti Hammond was a cheerleader in high school and while not knowing much about football, purchased Seahawks season tickets as birthday gift for her husband Dick Hammond. [5] She and her husband were Seahawks season ticket holders since their inaugural season in 1976. [5] She was known for her blue wig, feather boa and other Seahawks themed apparel. [5]

Hammond was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999 as a fan [7] [8] and was later selected to be the first fan to raise the 12th man flag for the Seahawks. [9] She had been interviewed on television multiple times, inspired Halloween tributes, [10] appeared on The Roseanne Show , [11] has her own toy figurine [1] and had her own trading card. [12] Hammond was also part of the Seattle Seahawks Guinness World Record for largest crowd roar. [13] [14] She was also the president of the Seahawks fan club, "The Seahawkers". [15]

Seahawks safety, Kenny Easley, mentioned her in his Pro Football Hall of Fame speech in 2017. [16] [17] She was selected as the Seattle Seahawks Fan of the Year in 2020. [18] [19] She was named the Seattle Met Best champion of Seattle Sports in 2021. [20]

Hammond died on March 4, 2023. Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll expressed their condolences through Twitter at her death. [21] [22] The Seahawks also released a video on her life on their Twitter following her death. [10] [23]

He is considered one of the greatest undrafted players of all time.

Cortez Kennedy was an American professional football player who was a defensive tackle for his entire 11-season career with the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012. He redefined and expanded the possibilities of how a large-bodied interior lineman could be used. In 1992, he won the Defensive Player of the Year award despite his team finishing 2–14.

Kenneth Mason Easley Jr. is an American former football safety who played in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons from 1981 to 1987. He played college football for the UCLA Bruins and was a three-time consensus All-American. He was selected in the first round of the 1981 NFL draft, by the Seattle Seahawks, where he played his entire career. Nicknamed "the Enforcer", Easley has been considered to be among the best defensive backs during his era and one of the Seahawks' all-time greatest players.

Curtis Edward Warner is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL). A two-time All-American playing college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions, Warner was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the 1983 NFL Draft. Warner was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame on December 8, 2009.

Stanley Douglas Morgan is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts. A "deep threat" receiver, he holds the NFL record with 19.2 yards per catch, and also holds the Patriots team record for total receiving yards in a career.

Mossila Kingsley Gaba was an American superfan of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens and a sports radio personality. In 2019, he became the first person to announce an NFL draft pick written in Braille. Gaba was inducted into the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame in July 2020. Gaba had battled four diagnoses of cancer.
