The Toledo Mud Hens are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. They are located in Toledo,Ohio,and play their home games at Fifth Third Field. A baseball team nicknamed the Mud Hens has played in Toledo for most seasons since 1896,including a 50-year history as a member of the now defunct American Association. The current franchise was established in 1965,joining the International League;this league was called the Triple-A East for the 2021 season.

He was best known for being one of four Orioles pitchers to win 20 games in their 1971 season.
Frank Strong Lary was an American Major League Baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers (1954–1964),New York Mets,Milwaukee Braves (1964),and Chicago White Sox (1965). He led the American League with 21 wins in 1956 and ranked second in the same category with 23 wins in 1961. Lary was selected to the American League All-Star team in 1960 and 1961 and won the Gold Glove Award in 1961. He was known variously as "Taters","Mule",and the "Yankee Killer." The latter nickname was won due to his 27–10 record against the New York Yankees from 1955 to 1961.

He also had a longer career in minor league baseball on and off from 1988 to 1997,where he even served as a pitcher in three games.

He played professional baseball for 15 years from 1960 to 1974,including six seasons in Major League Baseball as a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers (1969–1973) and Cleveland Indians (1973–1974). He compiled a 35–35 win–loss record and a 3.78 earned run average (ERA),and recorded 35 saves and 315 strikeouts,in 228 major league games and 548 innings pitched.
George David "Slick" Coffman was an American baseball pitcher. He played 18 years of professional baseball,including four years in Major League Baseball with the Detroit Tigers (1937–1939) and St. Louis Browns (1940). In his major league debut in May 1937,Coffman won in an 11-inning,4–2 pitching duel with Lefty Grove. Coffman compiled a career record of 15–12 in 313+2⁄3 innings pitched with a 5.60 earned run average.

Henry Gregory "Harry" Armbruster,also known as "Army" Armbruster,was an American professional baseball player whose career spanned 10 seasons,including one in Major League Baseball. During that one season,which was in 1906,Armbruster played with the Philadelphia Athletics. Armbruster,an outfielder,compiled a major league batting average of .238 with 40 runs,63 hits,six doubles,three triples,two home runs,24 runs batted in (RBIs) and 13 stolen bases in 91 games played. Armbruster also played in the minor leagues with the Class-A Providence Grays;the Class-B Manchester,New Hampshire,baseball team;the Class-B Lawrence Colts;the Class-A Toledo Mud Hens;the Class-A St. Paul Saints;and the Class-B Syracuse Stars. In the minors,Armbruster compiled a batting average .292 with 1,159 hits in 1,101 games played.

In his senior season at TCU,Holaday won the Johnny Bench Award,given to the best collegiate catcher for the season.
