The Queensland Solo Championship is a motorcycle speedway championship held annually in Queensland to determine the Queensland State speedway champion. The event is organised by the Motorcycling Queensland and is sanctioned by Motorcycling Australia (MA). [1]

Five non Australian riders have won the Queensland Solo title. Rune Sörmander (Sweden), Ivan Mauger (New Zealand), Ken McKinlay (Scotland), Oliver Allen and Josh Auty (England). [3]

The New Zealand Solo Championship is the annual individual motorcycle speedway championship of New Zealand. The championship has been running since 1929, although the event has not been held during various years.

The 1986 Australian Individual Speedway Championship was held at the Pioneer Park Speedway in Ayr, Queensland on 11 January. Eighteen-year-old Brisbane based rider Troy Butler surprised by winning his first Australian Championship and in doing so becoming the youngest winner in the history of the Australian Championship since it was first run in 1926. The top four placed riders were all from Queensland with he first non-Queenslander being fifth placed South Australian Steve Baker who lost a runoff for fourth place to Steve Regeling. Baker and Regeling were the only riders to defeat Butler on the day.

The Loxford Park Speedway is a motorcycle speedway track located in the area of Loxford, near Kurri Kurri in New South Wales (NSW). It is home to the Kurri Kurri Speedway Club and the Kurri Cobras. Loxford Park also has a 135 m (148 yd) junior track, built on the infield of the main track with the junior track joining onto the main straight and sharing the start-finish line. The site also hosts sidecar racing.
