Rogernomics were the neoliberal economic policies promoted by Roger Douglas,the Minister of Finance (1984–1988) in the Fourth Labour Government of New Zealand of 26 July 1984 to 2 November 1990. Rogernomics featured market-led restructuring and deregulation and the control of inflation through tight monetary policy,accompanied by a floating exchange-rate and reductions in the fiscal deficit. Douglas came from a background of (left-wing) Labour Party politics. His adoption of policies more usually associated with the political right,and their implementation by the Fourth Labour Government,became the subject of lasting controversy.

The 1951 New Zealand waterfront dispute was the largest and most widespread industrial dispute in New Zealand history. During the time,up to twenty thousand workers went on strike in support of waterfront workers protesting against financial hardships and poor working conditions. Thousands more refused to handle "scab" goods. The dispute was sometimes referred to as the waterfront lockout or waterfront strike. It lasted 151 days,from 13 February to 15 July 1951. During the strike,the Watersiders' Union was deregistered and its funds and records were seized,and 26 local watersiders' unions were set up in its place.
The Engineering,Printing and Manufacturing Union (EPMU) was the largest private sector trade union in New Zealand. It was formed in 1996 by the merger of the Engineers' Union (EU),the Printing,Packaging and Manufacturing Union (PPMU),and the Communications and Energy Workers' Union (CEWU).
The 2006 Progressive Enterprises Dispute was an industrial dispute between New Zealand supermarket company Progressive Enterprises and employees represented by the National Distribution Union and the EPMU. On 25 August 2006,over 500 employees at Progressive's four distribution centres began a 48-hour strike supporting a demand for a national collective agreement involving an eight percent wage increase and pay parity between the four centres. On 26 August 2006 the company locked out the strikers indefinitely,suspending operations at its distribution centres,with suppliers delivering goods directly to the supermarkets and also setting up amateur small scale distribution centres in car parks of Countdown supermarkets. The dispute was resolved on 21 September 2006 when Progressive Enterprises agreed to pay parity and a 4.5% wage increase.
Andrew James Little is a New Zealand politician and former trade union official,currently serving as Minister of Justice and Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations. He is also the Minister for the Government Communications Security Bureau and the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service. Little was previously Leader of the Opposition from 2014 to 2017.
The Liberal Government of New Zealand was the first responsible government in New Zealand politics organised along party lines. The government formed following the founding of the Liberal Party and took office on 24 January 1891,and governed New Zealand for over 21 years until 10 July 1912. To date,it is the longest-serving government in New Zealand's history. The government was also historically notable for enacting significant social and economic changes,such as the Old Age Pensions Act and women's suffrage. Although New Zealand continued to assist Britain in situations such as the Malayan Emergency,it now became connected to Australia and the United States through the ANZUS agreement.
The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1894 was a piece of industrial relations legislation passed by the Parliament of New Zealand in 1894. Enacted by the Liberal Government of New Zealand,it was the world's first compulsory system of state arbitration. It gave legal recognition to unions and enabled them to take disputes to a Conciliation Board,consisting of members elected by employers and workers.

The Great Strike refers to a near general strike that took place in New Zealand from October 1913 to mid-January 1914. It was the largest and most disruptive strike in New Zealand's history. At its height,it brought the economy of New Zealand almost to a halt. Between 14,000 and 16,000 workers went on strike,out of a population of just over one million.
The Fifth National Government of New Zealand was the government of New Zealand for three parliamentary terms from 19 November 2008 to 26 October 2017. John Key served as National Leader and Prime Minister until December 2016,after which Bill English assumed the premiership until the National Government's defeat following the October 2017 government-forming negotiations.
Helen Ione White is a New Zealand politician. In 2020 she became a Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives for the Labour Party.
