Senain Kheshgi is a Pakistani-American film director, writer and producer. She is best known for her documentary films, Project Kashmir and The Diplomat. [1]

Early life

Kheshgi was born in Karachi, Pakistan. Both her parents were born in India but moved to Pakistan after the Partition of India. [2] Her father, Aman Khan Kheshgi was the first TV game show host on the state-run Pakistan Television. He hosted the popular quiz show ZEENA BA ZEENA. Her family emigrated to New York in the late 1960s. In 1971, Senain was cast on the Children’s Television Workshop's groundbreaking show Sesame Street. She was the first South Asian American to be cast as a ‘Regular’ on American television. She was on the show from 1971 to 1977.

Documentary film

Early in her career, Kheshgi worked as a co-producer of the Peabody-winning film, "The First Year", directed by Davis Guggenheim. She then went on to produce and direct her own films. Kheshgi co-directed the feature documentary Project Kashmir along with Geeta V. Patel. The film takes place in the beautiful, but embattled Kashmir. Kheshgi and Patel navigate the dangers and complexity of a country divided. Kheshgi then co-directed The Diplomat about the East German Olympic ice skater Katarina Witt with Jennifer Arnold for ESPN Films. It is a window into Witt's life, who as one of the world's greatest ice skaters, still could not break free from Communist East Germany. [3] [4] [5]

<i>Bawre Nain</i> 1950 Indian film

Bawre Nain is a 1950 Indian Hindi-language romance film directed by Kidar Nath Sharma. It was produced under the Ambitious Pictures banner at Shree Sound Studios. For the music, Sharma persisted with music director Roshan, in spite of several demands from film distributors to have him removed following his failure as a composer in an earlier film, Neki Aur Badi (1949). The music became popular and is stated to be the reason for the film's success. One of the noteworthy songs that popularised playback singer Mukesh was "Teri Duniya Mein Dil Lagta Nahin", composed in Raga Darbari Kaanada. Bawre Nain is cited as Roshan's "first big hit" as a music composer.

Yvonne Gómez Muñoz is a Spanish-American former competitive figure skater who competed internationally for both Spain and the United States. She represented Spain at the 1988 Winter Olympics and the 1988 and 1989 World Championships.

Suhaag Raat also called Sohag Raat, is a 1948 Hindi film of Indian cinema directed by Kidar Sharma. A romantic drama, it was Oriental Pictures first film, with distribution rights owned by Varma Films. The story was a joint effort by F. A. Mirza and V. Parey Hut Love is a 2019 Pakistani romantic comedy film, directed by Asim Raza. Written by Imran Aslam, the story revolves around a young free-willed, commitment-phobic, aspiring actor Sheheryar and a strong-willed girl, Saniya and their romance as they meet and fall in love over a series of unplanned encounters at the weddings of their friends and family. Parey Hut Love also stars Nadeem Baig, Ahmed Ali Butt and Zara Noor Abbas and Shahbaz Shigri in prominent roles. The film also features a cameo by Mahira Khan and a special appearance by Fawad Khan. There are also cameos from Meera, Sonya Jehan and Ahmed Ali Akbar.

Geeta Vasant Patel is an American film and television director, screenwriter, and producer best known for her work on Meet the Patels (2014), House of the Dragon (2022), and Ahsoka (2023).
