The Society for Mathematics and Computation in Music (SMCM) was founded in 2006 as an International Forum for researchers and musicians working in the trans-disciplinary field at the intersection of music, mathematics and computation. The SMCM is registered in the USA. At its inaugural meeting in Berlin on May 20, 2007, 13 board members were elected. The board later elected the officers for the society.

Imanol Ordorika Sacristán Mexican activist and sociologist

Imanol Ordorika Sacristán is a Mexican social activist, political leader, academic and intellectual. He was one of the initiators and principal leaders of the Consejo Estudiantil Universitario at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, with Carlos Imaz Gispert and Antonio Santos Romero, from 1986 to 1990. A founder and prominent member of the Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD) until 2001. Professor of social sciences and education at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. Ordorika is an active participant in the Mexican political debate as well as an Op-ed writer for La Jornada and other Mexican media.

María Alejandra Bravo de la Parra is a Mexican biochemist who was laureated with the 2010 L'Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science – Latin America for her work on a bacterial toxin that acts as a powerful insecticide. Bravo has co-authored numerous papers with her husband Dr. Mario Soberon.

In most cases these rankings or hierarchical classifications of higher education institutions are not very sensitive to different historical developments and university traditions; distinct roles played by colleges and universities in different countries; or particular economic, cultural, social and political conditions, at the local, national or regional levels, that shape higher education institutions and systems in alternative ways.

Palacio de la Autonomía

The Palacio de la Autonomía is a museum and site where the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México gained autonomy from direct government control in 1929. The building is from the late 19th century, and located on the corner of Licenciado de Verdad and Rep de Guatemala streets, north of Santa Teresa la Antigua and east of Templo Mayor. The site has a 500-year history, starting from part of lands granted by Hernán Cortés. The current building was constructed by the administration of President Porfirio Díaz, but it was ceded to the University in 1910. Since that time, the building has had a number of uses, including housing a dental school and a preparatory school. Today it houses the Museo de la Autonomía Universitaria.

Emoé de la Parra Mexican actress and academic

Emoé de la Parra is a Mexican actress and academic, daughter of Mexican writer Yolanda Vargas Dulché. Most of her acting work has been in the theater but she is better known for her television work, including appearances in works written by her mother such as Encrucijada and Gabriel y Gabriela.
