Tata Projects is an Indian engineering, procurement and construction company. It is a subsidiary of Tata Sons. [2]

History

The company was founded by J. R. D. Tata to create a complete consortium that would take on projects, Division of Tata Sons for engineering procurement and construction projects. [3]

Founded in 1979, the company carries out industrial and urban infrastructure projects. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]

Advanced Technology Facilities

Construction of Data Centres, Manufacturing units, and Life Sciences Facilities adhering to GMP/FDA standards from conception to completion. India's first Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility for Micron at Sanand, Gujarat [9]

Space and nuclear

For the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), it constructs complicated structures and assists on-site integration services. [10] A $321 million order from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) was given to the corporation, marking its third contract in the nuclear power industry. [11]

Power sector

It supports gas-based combined-cycle power plants and balance of plants on an EPC basis for coal based power plants that are operating at supercritical and subcritical temperatures. [12] [13]

Transportation

Its focus areas are airports, niche road projects including expressways and railway infrastructure including mass rapid transit systems and automobile sector. [14]

The company carries out transport and urban development projects for Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). [15] [14]

Urban infrastructure

Tata Projects built New Parliament House, New Delhi, lotus, peacock, and banyan tree are three national emblems that are incorporated into the interior design. [16] [17] [18] [19]

Oil and gas

In 2020, The company received orders of Rs 6,000 crore in oil and gas refinery industry from two state-run businesses. [20]

Metals and minerals

Tata Projects operates iron and steel in different countries and it is capable of building beneficiation plants, sinter plants, pellet plants, blast furnaces, casters and rolling mills on an EPC basis. [21] [22] [23] [24]

Water

In 2017, Tata Projects and Watergen of Israel began initiatives that aim to extract drinking water from the atmosphere. [25] In Connaught Place in New Delhi, Watergen installed a GEN-350G pilot where 2,000 people received drinking water from the air each day. [26]

The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, officially named as Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri–Nhava Sheva Atal Setu and colloquially known as Atal Setu, is a 21.8 km (13.5 mi) 6-lane elevated highway bridge, which connects Mumbai with Navi Mumbai, its satellite city. It is the longest sea bridge in India, and the world's 12th longest sea bridge. The bridge begins in Sewri, South Mumbai, crosses Thane Creek north of Elephanta Island, and terminates at Chirle near Nhava Sheva in Uran taluka, Navi Mumbai. The road is linked to the Mumbai–Pune Expressway in the east and to the Coastal Road in the west. The 6-lane highway is 27 meters in width, in addition to two emergency exit lanes, two edge strips, parallel crash barriers and noise barriers on both sides. The project costs a total of 17,843 crore (US$2.2 billion). The bridge has a capacity to handle 70,000 vehicles per day. Construction on the bridge began in April 2018, and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 12 January 2024.

IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited, is an Indian highway construction company headed by Mr. Virendra Dattatraya Mhaiskar. It was incorporated in 1998, with its headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It is part of the IRB Group and was ranked 200th in the Fortune India 500 list in 2020. IRB Infrastructure, which executed the country's first build-operate-transfer (BOT) road project, is one of the largest operators of such ventures. Currently it has about 3,404 lane Km operational and about 2,330 lane Km under development. Among its notable projects are the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway. In 2012, IRB acquired Tamil Nadu based BOT road builder MVR Infrastructure and Tollways for 130 crore. The company got the contract of Ganga Expressway, the longest under-construction expressway in Uttar Pradesh.
