The state broadcaster Kuwait Television operates the domestic channels, including KTV1 (music shows, news, current affairs and official conferences coverage), KTV2 (family programmes in English, Kuwaiti TV series subbed in English and English Movies subbed in Arabic) and KTV Sport (formerly KTV3). There are 28 free-to-air satellite channels headquartered in Kuwait, 21 of which are privately owned. Direct-to-home is the dominant platform in the pay-television market. KCV is the only provider of cable television. [1]
Television in Hungary was introduced in 1957. Transmission in colour was introduced to Hungarian television for the first time in 1971. Hungary had only one television channel until 1973. It was only in the mid 1990s when private and commercial broadcasting was introduced to Hungary.
Television in Serbia was introduced in 1958. It remains the most popular of the media in Serbia—according to 2009 survey, Serbian people watch on average 6 hours of television per day, making it the highest average in Europe.
NTV Plus is the brand name for the Russian digital satellite television service from NTV, transmitted from Eutelsat's W4 satellite at 36.0°E and from Bonum 1 at 56.0°E. Previously a part of Vladimir Gusinsky's media empire, now it is included in the Gazprom Media holding.
Television was introduced in Czechoslovakia in 1953. Experimental projects with DVB-T started in 2000. Finally on 21 October 2005, multiplex A (DVB-T) was launched with three channels of Česká televize and one of TV Nova and radio channels of Český rozhlas.
Television in Romania started in August 1955. State television started to broadcast on 31 December 1956. The second television channel followed in 1968, but between 1985 and 1990, there was only one Romanian channel before the return of the second channel. Private broadcasters arrived in December 1991, with SOTI which was the first private nationwide television station in Central and Eastern Europe. Romania has the highest penetration rates for pay television in the world, with over 98% of all households watching television through cable or satellite.
Orbit Showtime Network commonly known as OSN, is a Dubai-based satellite TV company serving the Middle East and North Africa region. OSN mainly broadcasts programming from TV networks owned by Paramount Global, Warner Bros. Discovery, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures, DreamWorks and the BBC; as well as regional, mostly Arabic, Turkish and Pinoy content.
Super TV is the first Bosnian IPTV provider, owned by Logosoft.
