The planned seventh season of The Girls Next Door was to begin regularly featuring the residents of the Playmate House after Karissa and Kristina Shannon moved in following their break-ups with Hugh Hefner in January 2010. [4] [5] However Hefner asked them to move out after being displeased they had boyfriends. [6] With Crystal Harris as the only remaining cast member of The Girls Next Door, it was decided a backdoor pilot [7] that would focus completely on the residents of the Playmate House would be filmed.
While E! passed on the series, production had hopes that the series still had a chance. Jayde Nicole and Claire Sinclair were given roles on the upcoming second season of Holly's World in hopes that audiences would respond to their characters, therefore prompting renewed interest in The Bunny House. [8] Holly's World was cancelled after its second season, alongside fellow The Girls Next Door spin-off Kendra , after the then-new E! president Bonnie Hammer vowed to "get rid of the more Playboy trashy element" from the network, [9] which resulted in The Bunny House never being picked up to series.

Hugh Marston Hefner was a controversial American magazine publisher. He was the founder and editor-in-chief of Playboy magazine, a publication with revealing photographs and articles which provoked charges of obscenity. The first issue was published in December 1953 and featured Marilyn Monroe from a 1949 nude calendar shoot she did under a pseudonym; it sold over 50,000 copies, Monroe was not compensated.
The Playboy Mansion, also known as the Playboy Mansion West, is the former home of Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner who lived there from 1974 until his death in 2017. Barbi Benton convinced Hefner to buy the home located in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, California, near Beverly Hills. From the 1970s onward the mansion became as the location of lavish parties held by Hefner which were often attended by celebrities and socialites. It is currently owned by Daren Metropoulos, the son of billionaire investor Dean Metropoulos, and is used for corporate activities.
