Quantum annealing (QA) is an optimization process for finding the global minimum of a given objective function over a given set of candidate solutions,by a process using quantum fluctuations. He is known for his research in materials physics and materials chemistry,and for establishing the importance of phonon entropy to the phase stability of materials.
