The 1999 Texas A&M Aggies baseball team represented Texas A&M University in the 1999 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Aggies played their home games at Olsen Field. The team was coached by Mark Johnson in his 9th year at Texas A&M.

The Aggies won the College Station Regional and the College Station Super Regional to advance to the College World Series, where they were defeated by the Cal State Fullerton Titans.

He played college baseball at Elon from 1986 to 1989 for head coach Rick Jones. He then served as the head coach of the UNLV Rebels (2002–2003) and the TCU Horned Frogs (2004–2021).

Gary Claude Blair is a retired women's basketball head coach. He coached for 37 years closing with Texas A&M Aggies women's basketball, who he coached from 2003 until his retirement in 2022. In his 37 years as a collegiate head coach, Blair only suffered two losing seasons, and has reached postseason play 28 times, including 23 NCAA Tournament appearances and Final Four appearances in 1998 with Arkansas and 2011 with Texas A&M. He led the Aggies to the NCAA national championship in 2011. He is listed in the top 35 of the all-time winningest NCAA Division I women's basketball coaches, and he is one of the few coaches to guide three different schools to national rankings and NCAA Tournament berths. Blair was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013 and the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023.

Clarence William Byrne Jr. is an American retired college athletics administrator. He was the athletic director at the University of Oregon from 1984 to 1992, at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln from 1992 to 2002, and at Texas A&M University from January 2003 to May 8, 2012, when he retired. He was a Special Adviser to Texas A&M University President R. Bowen Loftin until August 31, 2012. Upon leaving the athletic department, he held the title of athletic director emeritus at Texas A&M.

The TCU Horned Frogs baseball team represents Texas Christian University in NCAA Division I baseball. The Frogs have competed in the Big 12 Conference since 2013 and previously competed in the Mountain West, Conference USA, Western Athletic Conference and Southwest Conference. Since February 2003, the Horned Frogs have played their home games at Lupton Stadium, located on the TCU campus in Fort Worth, Texas. The Frogs are led by head coach Kirk Saarloos.

It concluded with the 1997 College World Series, the 51st, a double-elimination tournament of eight regional champions held in Omaha, Nebraska, at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium. LSU claimed its second consecutive and fourth total Division I championship.
