Mendoza played from 1999 to 2002 at Stanford and was a member of the United States women's national softball team from 2004 to 2010. She won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. She played professionally in National Pro Fastpitch and was named 2011 Player of the Year and currently ranks in the top 10 for career batting average and slugging percentage.

Mark Edward Marquess is an American college baseball coach. He served as the head coach of the Stanford Cardinal baseball team from 1977 to 2017.

Mark Andrew Machtolf is an American college baseball coach, the head coach of the Gonzaga Bulldogs of the West Coast Conference. He succeeded Steve Hertz, who retired after the 2003 season, after 23 years at the helm. Machtolf was an assistant to Hertz for the previous eight seasons (1996–2003). Under Machtolf, Gonzaga has made three NCAA tournament appearances. As a result of Gonzaga's successful season in 2009, Machtolf was named the WCC Coach of the Year.
