The 2005 Men's Ice Hockey Championships were held March 7 – May 15, 2005, in 7 cities in 6 countries: Vienna and Innsbruck, Austria (Championship); Debrecen, Hungary ; Eindhoven, the Netherlands ; Zagreb, Croatia ; Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro ; Mexico City, Mexico. The competition also served as qualification for division placements in the 2006 competition. It was a major professional tournament, because of the 2004–05 NHL labor dispute. This international event was the 69th such event sanctioned by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The championship was won by the Czech Republic.
The 2000 World Junior Hockey Championships, was the 24th edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship. The tournament was hosted in Skellefteå and Umeå, Sweden from December 25, 1999, to January 4, 2000. The Czech Republic won the gold medal with a 1–0 shootout victory over Russia in the championship game, while Canada won the bronze medal with a 4–3 shootout victory over the United States. This still remains as the only tournament to where both medal games have been decided in a shootout.
The Israel national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of Israel. Since 2015, the team's Captain has been Eliezer Sherbatov. Israel was ranked 35th as of May 2017 by the International Ice Hockey Federation. In 2019, the team won the gold medal in the 2019 IIHF World Championship Division II Group B tournament in Mexico City.

The 2016 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships was the 40th Ice Hockey World Junior Championship. It was hosted in Helsinki, Finland. It began on December 26, 2015, and ended with the gold medal game on January 5, 2016. This marked the sixth time that Finland has hosted the WJC, and the hosts defeated Russia 4–3 in overtime to win their fourth title in history and second in the last three years. Belarus was relegated to Division I-A for 2017 by merit of their tenth-place finish, while Finnish right winger Jesse Puljujärvi earned MVP and top scorer honors.

It was played in Mexico City, Mexico, from 15 to 24 January 2016. Division III represents the sixth tier of the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. The champions, Mexico, were promoted to the Division II B for the 2017 tournament, and the last-placed nation were to be relegated to a qualification tournament for 2017, instead an eight-team Division III tournament was decided on in September 2016. Israel participated in a World Junior tournament for the first time since 1997, while Bulgaria returned after withdrawing from the 2015 tournament.
The 2022 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship Division III was an international ice hockey tournament organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Division III represents the sixth and the lowest tier of the IIHF World Junior Championship. The tournament would have been held in Querétaro, Mexico, from 6 to 16 January 2022, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Later it was rescheduled and was played from 22 to 30 July 2022.
