The 2014 Tulane Green Wave football team represented Tulane University in the 2014 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by third-year head coach Curtis Johnson and played home games at Yulman Stadium. They were in their first year of membership in the American Athletic Conference, and it was the Green Wave's first season on its Uptown campus since the 1974 season. They finished the season 3–9, 2–6 in AAC play to finish in a tie for eighth place.

After the Wave took a 31–17 lead late in the 4th quarter, the Cougars scored a touchdown and then recovered an onside kick, driving into the red zone. On the last play of the game though, Parry Nickerson made his second interception of the night as time expired. [14] With starters Sherman Badie and Lazedrick Thompson injured for the game, all 31 of the Green Wave's points were scored by true freshmen – Teddy Veal, Dontrell Hilliard, Leondre James, and Andrew DiRocco. The win snapped a 10-game losing streak to Houston, and an 18-game losing streak in games played outside the state of Louisiana. [15]

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles and Lady Eagles are the intercollegiate athletics teams that represent the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The Green Wave compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as a member of the American Athletic Conference. The football team is coached by Jon Sumrall, and plays its home games in Yulman Stadium on its campus in Uptown New Orleans.

The 1910 Alabama Crimson Tide football team represented the University of Alabama in the 1910 college football season. It was the Crimson Tide's 18th overall and 15th season as a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA). The team was led by head coach Guy Lowman, in his first year, and played their home games at the University of Alabama Quad in Tuscaloosa and the Birmingham Fairgrounds in Birmingham, Alabama. They finished the season with a record of four wins and four losses.

The 1960 Alabama Crimson Tide football team represented the University of Alabama in the 1960 NCAA University Division football season. It was the Crimson Tide's 66th overall and 27th season as a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The team was led by head coach Bear Bryant, in his third year, and played their home games at Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa and Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. They finished with a record of eight wins, one loss and two ties and with a tie against Texas in the Bluebonnet Bowl.

Claude M. "Little Monk" Simons Jr. was an American football player, coach of football, basketball, and baseball, and college athletics administrator. He played college football at Tulane University, where he starred for the Tulane Green Wave as a halfback. Simons served as the head football coach at Transylvania University from 1935 to 1937 and his alma mater, Tulane, from 1942 to 1945, compiling career college football coaching record of 24–29–2. He was the basketball coach at Tulane from 1938 to 1942, tallying a mark of 19–44. He also had two stints the school's baseball coach, from 1938 to 1941 and 1943 to 1949, amassing a record of 91–69. Simons was the athletic director at Tulane from 1946 to 1947. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as player in 1963.

The 1973 Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl, part of the 1973 bowl game season, took place on December 29, 1973, at the Houston Astrodome in Houston, Texas. The competing teams were the Tulane Green Wave and Houston Cougars, with each competing as a football independent. Houston won the game 47–7.

The 2012 Tulane Green Wave football team represented Tulane University in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was led by first-year head coach Curtis Johnson. The Green Wave played home games in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and competed in the West Division of Conference USA. This was their final season in Conference USA as the prepared to move to the American Athletic Conference. They finished the season 2–10, 2–6 in C-USA play to finish in a tie for fifth place in the West Division.

This was the Green Wave's last season playing in the Superdome and Conference USA as they will open the new, on-campus Yulman Stadium in the fall of 2014, and move to the American Athletic Conference in July 2014. The 2013 New Orleans Bowl was an American college football bowl game that was played on December 21, 2013, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The thirteenth edition of the New Orleans Bowl, it featured the Tulane Green Wave of Conference USA against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns of the Sun Belt Conference. The game began at 8:00 p.m. CST and aired on ESPN. It was one of the 2013–14 bowl games that concluded the 2013 FBS football season. Sponsored by freight shipping company R+L Carriers, the game was officially known as the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. The Ragin' Cajuns defeated the Green Wave by a score of 24–21.

The 2014 Houston Cougars baseball team represented the University of Houston in the 2014 intercollegiate baseball season. Houston competed in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in its inaugural season as a member of the American Athletic Conference. The Cougars played home games at Cougar Field on the university's campus in Houston, Texas. Fourth-year head coach Todd Whitting, a former second baseman for the team during the 1992, 1994, and 1995 seasons and an assistant coach with the Cougars from 1996 through 2003, led the Cougars.

The 2014 Lamar Cardinals football team represented Lamar University in the 2014 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Cardinals were led by fifth-year head coach Ray Woodard and played their home games at Provost Umphrey Stadium. They are a member of the Southland Conference. The Cardinals finished the season 8–4, 5–3 in Southland play to finish in a three-way tie for third place. The eight win overall and five win conference record matched the Cardinals' best overall win record in both categories as a four year program.

Lorenzo Doss is a former American football cornerback. He played college football at Tulane before being selected by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL draft. Doss was on the Broncos Super Bowl 50 championship team.

The Ole Miss–Tulane football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Ole Miss Rebels and Tulane Green Wave. The rivalry began in 1893. Ole Miss leads the series 42–29. It is Tulane's second-oldest football rivalry, one week younger than the Battle for the Rag. It is Ole Miss' oldest rivalry, predating its rivalries with Alabama, LSU, and Vanderbilt by a year, and Tulane is Ole Miss' most-played opponent not currently in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

The 2018 Tulane Green Wave football team represented Tulane University in the 2018 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Green Wave played their home games at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana, and competed in the West Division of the American Athletic Conference. They were led by third-year head coach Willie Fritz. They finished the season 7–6, 5–3 in AAC play to finish in a three way tie for the West Division championship. After tiebreakers, they did not represent the West Division in the AAC Championship Game. They were invited to the Cure Bowl where they defeated Louisiana to win their first bowl game since 2002.

The 2022 Tulane Green Wave football team represented Tulane University in the 2022 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Green Wave played their home games at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana, and competed in the American Athletic Conference. They were led by seventh-year head coach Willie Fritz. They finished the season 12–2, 7–1 in AAC play to earn a trip to the AAC championship game. The Green Wave defeated UCF to win the AAC championship, the school's first conference championship since 1998 and its first AAC championship. They received a bid to the Cotton Bowl Classic to play No-10 ranked USC. It was their first major bowl game since the 1940 Sugar Bowl. Tulane defeated USC in the Cotton Bowl 46–45, scoring 16 points in the final four minutes to win the game. In the game, with 4:30 remaining and the team facing a 15-point deficit, Tulane's win probability stood at 0.2%, yet the Green Wave pulled off the incredible comeback.

The Green Wave were led by Willie Fritz in his eighth year as head coach. They played their home games at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana. They entered this season as the defending AAC champions.
