The 2023 AWMA is the forthcoming fourth Australian Women in Music Awards. The finalists were announced on 18 July 2023. [1]

Contents

20 Award categories will be presented with two new awards added in the fields of Executive Leader Game Changer and Women in Heavy Music. [1]

The winners were announced on 27 September 2023 with AWMA Founding Executive Producer and Program Director Vicki Gordon saying, "We support and promote women as vital, essential contributors to the future business growth of the sector and are calling on the industry to adopt gender equality as a core music industry value. Gender equity is still a long way in the future and we all need to remain vigilant." [2]

Toni Watson, known professionally as Tones and I, is an Australian singer, songwriter, and record producer. She is best known for her breakout single "Dance Monkey", which reached number one in over 30 countries including her own native Australia. In November 2019, it broke the ARIA record for the most weeks at number one on their singles chart by any artist with 16 weeks. In mid-January 2020, "Dance Monkey" ended its 24th and final week at number one, beating Bing Crosby's all-time Australian record for his version of "White Christmas", which spent an equivalent of 22 weeks at the top in 1943. "Dance Monkey" was certified 19× platinum by ARIA for shipments of over 1,330,000 units by June 2023.

Australian Women in Music Awards is a not for profit charity which delivers an annual award ceremony and conference program to recognise the vast contributions of women across all areas of the Australian Music industry. The two-day program includes forums, a show case event and networking.

The APRA Music Awards of 2021 are the 39th annual series, known as APRA Awards. The awards are given in a series of categories in three divisions and in separate ceremonies throughout the year: the APRA Music Awards, Art Music Awards and Screen Music Awards. The APRA Music Awards are provided by APRA AMCOS; nominations were revealed on 30 March 2021, and the ceremony followed on 28 April 2021. The Art Music Awards are jointly presented by APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre (AMC). The finalists were announced in July with the winners revealed on 9 September. The Screen Music Awards are jointly provided by APRA and the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) with the ceremony usually held in November, however, it was postponed to 22 February 2022.

The 2018 Australian Women in Music Awards is the inaugural Australian Women in Music Awards. The event took place on 10 October 2018.

The 2021 Australian Women in Music Awards was the third Australian Women in Music Awards. The event was scheduled to take place on 5 and 6 October 2021 but on 31 August 2021, but delayed to 19 May 2022.

Martha Marlow, is an Australian singer, songwriter, artist and musician. Marlow's debut studio album, Medicine Man was released in May 2021 and received a nomination for ARIA Award for Best Blues and Roots Album at the 2021 ARIA Music Awards.

Anne Cawrse is an Australian composer based in South Australia. She is currently on the composition staff at Elder Conservatorium of Music.
