As USAACE commander, he was responsible for the training, doctrine, organizational structure, and future technology development for 90,000 aviation soldiers and over 4,000 aircraft. He retired on April 7, 2017 after 34 years of distinguished service.
Daniel Robert Hokanson is a four-star general in the United States Army who currently serves as the 29th chief of the National Guard Bureau. He previously served as the 21st director of the Army National Guard. His other assignments as a general officer include serving as the 52nd Chief of Infantry; Deputy Commanding General-Support, 10th Mountain Division; Commander, Joint Multinational Training Command; Deputy Commanding General, United States Army Europe; and director of Operations/director, Rapid Equipment Fielding, Army Rapid Capabilities Office.

Beagle previously served as the 51st commanding general of the United States Army Training Center at Fort Jackson from June 22, 2018, to June 18, 2021. He has also served as deputy commanding general for support of the 10th Mountain Division from 2017 to 2018 and commander of the 193rd Infantry Brigade from 2013 to 2016.
