Caleb Paul Jewell is an Australian cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Tasmania on 15 March 2016 in the 2015–16 Sheffield Shield. In September 2018, he was named in the Hobart Hurricanes' squad for the 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy. He made his Twenty20 debut for the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy on 5 October 2018. In February 2021, during the 2020–21 Sheffield Shield season, Jewell scored his maiden first-class century.
The Sri Lanka cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates in September and October 2017 to play two Tests, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against the Pakistan cricket team. The 2017 Desert T20 Challenge was an international Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that was held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 14 to 20 January 2017. The eight Associate Members of the International Cricket Council that have T20I status were scheduled to take part. However, Papua New Guinea declined to participate and were replaced by Namibia. Therefore, matches with Namibia were played as Twenty20 matches.
Shaheen Shah Afridi is a Pakistani international cricketer and the former captain of the Pakistan national cricket team in the T20I format. He captains the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL. Under his leadership, Lahore Qalandars won their first PSL title in the 2022 season and again went on to win the 2023 season, becoming the first team in PSL history to successfully defend their title. He is the first Pakistani to win the Garfield Sobers Trophy.

The 2021 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a cricket tournament that took place in the United Arab Emirates in November 2021. The matches were played with Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) status, with the top team progressing to the 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament. Bhutan and Myanmar were originally scheduled to make their debuts at an ICC women's event. Originally scheduled to take place in September 2021, the tournament was postponed in May 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2023 Pakistan Super League was the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. Then PCB chairman Ramiz Raja had hinted at an auction based system to replace the draft for the 2023 season but a draft was retained. The draft for the tournament was held on 15 December in Karachi. A total of 36 foreign players were picked alongside local players. Lahore Qalandars were the defending champions.
Akif Raja is a Pakistani-born cricketer who plays for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team. He played in one first-class match for Lahore Shalimar in January 2014 in the 2013–14 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in Pakistan.
The 2024 International League T20 was the second season of the International League T20, a professional Twenty20 cricket league in the United Arab Emirates, organised by the Emirates Cricket Board. The tournament was played from 19 January 2024 and the final was held on 17 February 2024. Gulf Giants were the defending champions. The matches were granted List A status by the ICC for fielding less domestic players as stipulated.
