Robert Jackson is an American politician in New York City. A member of the Democratic Party,he is the Senator for the New York State Senate's 31st district on the West Side of Manhattan. He previously served in the New York City Council from 2002 to 2013,representing the 7th district in Manhattan. He is the first Muslim New York State Senator.

David Alexander Paterson is an American politician and attorney who served as the 55th governor of New York,succeeding Eliot Spitzer and serving out nearly three years of Spitzer's term from March 2008 to December 2010. A member of the Democratic Party,he was the first legally blind person to be sworn in as governor of a U.S. state,and the first African-American governor of New York.

Hiram Monserrate is an American politician and convicted felon from the State of New York. He later served time in prison following a plea of guilty to federal corruption charges. Kirsten Elizabeth Gillibrand is an American lawyer and politician serving as the junior United States senator from New York since 2009. A member of the Democratic Party,she served as member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2009.
John L. Sampson is an American former politician and convicted felon. A Democrat,Sampson represented District 19 in the New York State Senate from 1997 to 2015. He is of Guyanese heritage. Sampson became Senate Democratic Leader in June 2009 and served as Senate Minority Leader from January 2011 to December 2012. Sampson forfeited his Senate seat when he was convicted of federal felony charges on July 24,2015. On January 18,2017,he was sentenced to five years in prison.

Also,Jeff was formerly Of Counsel to the law firm Greenberg Traurig,where his field of practice included Government Affairs and litigation,specializing in Ethics,Freedom of Information Law,Election Law and other client related matters. Pearlman also was an Assistant Counsel to Governor David Paterson of New York. He resides in Albany,New York.
The 2010 United States Senate special election in New York took place on November 2,2010,concurrently with other elections to the United States Senate in other states as well as elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections. Governor David Paterson had appointed Kirsten Gillibrand to serve as United States Senator from New York until the 2010 special election,replacing former Senator Hillary Clinton,who resigned to serve as Secretary of State in the Barack Obama administration. The winner of the special election was to complete the term ending in January 2013. The special election took place concurrently with the regular election for the Senate seat held by Charles Schumer and the 2010 New York gubernatorial election.
