Air Traffic Control is a power pop/rock band from Nova Scotia's South Shore. Brothers Kirk and Jordi Comstock made their first foray into music while in elementary school. By 1991, both were playing all-ages and bar shows in and around the Maritimes, under the name Madhat. [1] In 1993, they released the independent EP Freak, produced and engineered by Len frontman Marc Costanzo and released on Halifax indie label No Records. [2] This received the attention of local radio station CKBW, which would feature the trio prominently through local programming, bringing Madhat to a wider audience.

1995 would bring about the band's second EP Hardhitters;, [3] Full Length was released in 1998. [4] This was Madhat's first full-length effort and its critical success elevated Madhat to a national audience.[ citation needed ] Madhat released two more albums, both of which included musician Simon Reinhardt: [5] From the Outside in 2000 [6] and To the World in 2002. [7]

In 2005, Madhat added guitarist and keyboardist Phillip Clark to the band and changed their name to Air Traffic Control. [8] They released a new self-titled album on February 12, 2005, to critical acclaim and garnered a nomination for New Group of the Year at the Nova Scotia Music Week conference.[ citation needed ] The trio's opening track, "Feel Proud" was selected as the title song for the Electronic Arts game Rugby 2005 [9] and has been featured in the YTV series 15 Love.[ citation needed ]

In 2007, they released the album S/T. [10] That was followed by Can't Kill Love in 2009 [11] and Tear the House Down in 2012. [12]

In 2011, they received a Rock Recording of the Year nomination from the East Coast Music Association, [13] and Alan Cross of 102.1 The Edge (CFNY-FM Toronto) said, "The #1 band to check out today."[ citation needed ] The band's music has appeared on Much Music, Satellite Radio, the television shows Degrassi: The Next Generation , [14] Golden Boy ,[ citation needed ] The Mysteries of Laura , [15] Kingdom , [16] and radio stations across Canada and the United States.

Following the release of Tear the House Down, the band went on hiatus; Jordi Comstock spent several years playing and producing with other bands. [17] On November 1, 2021, the band released the album No Horse Kids [18]

Finger Eleven is a Canadian rock band from Burlington, Ontario, formed in 1990. They have released seven studio albums, with their album The Greyest of Blue Skies bringing them into the mainstream. Their 2003 self-titled album achieved Gold status in the United States and Platinum in Canada, largely from the success of the single "One Thing", which marked the band's first placing on the US Hot 100 Chart at number 16. Damhnait Doyle [DAV-net] is a Canadian singer-songwriter. The phonetic spelling of her first name also serves as the title of her 2003 album. She was a member of Atlantic Canadian band Shaye from 2003–2009 with Kim Stockwood and Tara MacLean (2003–2007). Along with Blake Manning, Stuart Cameron and Peter Fusco, she formed a new band called The Heartbroken which was active since 2009.

Mir is a Canadian alternative rock and pop music group founded in 1996 and based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Asif Illyas is the band's lead vocalist, guitarist and pianist. His brother Shehab Illyas is the bassist and vocalist, and Adam Dowling is drummer and a second vocalist. The brothers were born in Sri Lanka and raised in England; Dowling is a Nova Scotia native and former drummer for Ashley MacIsaac.

Comstock Records is an independent American record label. Established and managed by Frank Fara and Patty Parker, Comstock achieved international success in the 1980s and 1990s by producing country music records for international artists. Patty Parker is an American singer, drummer, producer, and co-owner of independent record label, Comstock Records. In the mid-1970s she and her future husband, Frank Fara (Fafara) toured the Nevada casino circuit in their traveling Country music show, The Frank Fara Show featuring Patty Parker. Parker sang background vocals and was one of the only female drummers touring. In 1978, Parker and Fara launched Comstock Records and experienced immediate success with their first artist, Alex Fraser, whose single peaked at #9 on the Canadian Country music charts. Parker was one of the first full-time female music producers in Nashville and her success caught the attention of Billboard, Cashbox, Music Row Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, CNN and many local newspapers across Canada and the United States.

Kinley Dowling Canadian singer-songwriter and musician

Kinley Dowling, who performs under the stage name KINLEY, is a Canadian singer-songwriter and musician. She is a member of the band Hey Rosetta! and joined them in 2007. In 2016, she released her solo album Letters Never Sent. In 2018, she was nominated for four East Coast Music Awards, where she won Fan Choice Video of the Year and Rising Star Recording of the Year. She released her second album KINLEY in 2020, where it was nominated for Pop Recording of the Year at the 2021 East Coast Music Awards.
