Alaskans Together for Equality is a statewide education and political advocacy organization in Alaska that advocates for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights, including same-sex marriage. [1]

History

Alaskans Together for Equality began in January 2007 as Alaskans Together, a ballot measure committee organized to oppose an advisory vote intended to deny public employees access to same-sex partner benefits. Following the vote, the organization adopted its current structure. [2]

Alaskans Together for Equality is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization which lobbies at the local, state, and federal levels of government on LGBT issues. [1] [2] [3]

Alaskans Together Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which educates the public on LGBT issues. [3]

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is the largest LGBTQ advocacy group and political lobbying organization in the United States. It is a 501(c)(4) organization that maintains a 501(c)(3) education fund, a state candidate PAC and a ballot measure PAC. The organization is a member of the Equality Federation.

Equality California or EQCA is a non-profit civil rights organization that advocates for the rights of LGBT people in California. It is the largest statewide LGBT organization in the United States and the largest member of the Equality Federation. The organization is currently based in Los Angeles.

Equality Maryland (EQMD) is a non-profit organization formerly headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland, now based in Baltimore. It is the largest organization in Maryland whose activities focus on advocacy and education with regard to LGBT social and political movements. Equal Love

Equal Love is an Australian-wide campaign initiated by the Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby in an attempt to win gay and lesbian couples marriage rights in the country. LGBT rights in Alaska

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons in the U.S. state of Alaska may face some legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT Alaskans. Same-sex sexual activity has been legal since 1980, and same-sex couples have been able to marry since October 2014. The state offers few legal protections against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, leaving LGBT people vulnerable to discrimination in housing and public accommodations; however, the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Bostock v. Clayton County established that employment discrimination against LGBT people is illegal under federal law. In addition, four Alaskan cities, Anchorage, Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan, representing about 46% of the state population, have passed discrimination protections for housing and public accommodations.
