Amando Maglalang Tetangco Jr. (born November 14,1952) is a Filipino banker,who served as the third Governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). [1] He was the first BSP governor to serve two terms, [2] having been first appointed to the office by Philippine president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in July 3,2005,and reappointed in July 31,2011 by President Benigno Aquino III to serve another six-year term.
Born on November 14,1952 [3] to Amando,Sr. and the former Teodora Maglalang,Tetangco finished elementary and high school at the Don Bosco Academy in Pampanga. He went on to pursue his AB Economics degree at the Ateneo de Manila University,where he graduated cum laude;he also took up graduate courses in business administration in the same institution. Later on,as a scholar of the then Central Bank of the Philippines,Tetangco completed his MA in Public Policy and Administration (concentration in Development Economics) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison,Wisconsin,United States.
Before joining the BSP in 1974,Tetangco was connected to the management services division of the accounting firm Sycip Gorres Velayo &Co.
A career central banker,he has occupied different positions in the organization in a span of over three decades. Immediately prior to his appointment as BSP Governor,he was Deputy Governor in-charge of the Banking Services Sector,Economic Research and Treasury.
As BSP Governor in 2005,Tetangco is concurrently the Chairman of the BSP Monetary Board,the Anti-Money Laundering Council,and Philippine International Convention Center;Vice-Chairman of the Agriculture Credit Policy Council;member of the Capital Market Development Council,Export Development Council,PhilExport Board of Trustees,Philippine Export-Import Credit Agency;and director of the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation,National Development Council,and National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation.
He also represents the country in various international and regional organizations,including the Executive Meeting of East Asia and Pacific Central Banks;ASEAN and ASEAN+3;South East Asia Central Banks;South East Asia,New Zealand and Australia;Center for Latin American Monetary Studies;and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. He is the governor for the Philippines in the International Monetary Fund,and the Alternate Governor in the World Bank and in the Asian Development Bank.
Tetangco is married to Elvira Ma. Plana,with whom he has three children:a son and two daughters. He is an avid shooter and golfer.
In January 2013,Tetangco has been named Central Banker of the Year for Asia-Pacific by The Banker . [4]
Before this,he was honored in October 2012 by the financial magazine Emerging Markets as the Central Bank Governor of the Year for Asia. [5]
In the same year,he was named as one of the world's six best central bankers for 2012 by the Global Finance magazine,an accolade that had been previously given to him in 2006,2007 and 2011. [6]

Banknotes of the Philippine peso are issued by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for circulation in the Philippines. The New Design Series (NDS) (also known as the BSP Series after the establishment of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) was the name used to refer to banknotes of the Philippine peso issued from 1985 to 2013 and the coins of the Philippine peso issued from 1995 to 2017. The banknotes were printed until 2013 (with 5-peso note were printed until 1995,10-peso note until 2001,20 and 1000 peso notes until 2012,and 50,100,200 and 500 peso notes until 2013),legal tender until December 31,2015,and can be exchanged with NGC notes until its demonetization on December 29,2017,where they co-existed with the NGC banknotes from December 16,2010 to December 29,2017. The coins were minted and issued from c. December 1995 to November 30,2017,and remain legal tender as of 2023. It was succeeded by the New Generation Currency (NGC) Series issued on December 16,2010,for banknotes and November 30,2017,for coins.
The Philippine twenty-peso note (₱20) is a denomination of Philippine currency. It is the smallest banknote denomination in general circulation in the Philippines. Philippine president Manuel L. Quezon is currently featured on the front side of the note,while the Banaue Rice Terraces and the Asian palm civet is featured on the reverse side.
The Philippine fifty-peso note (₱50) is a denomination of Philippine currency. Philippine president and former House Speaker Sergio Osmeña is currently featured on the front side of the bill,while the Taal Lake and the giant trevally are featured on the reverse side.
The Philippine one hundred-peso note (₱100) is a denomination of Philippine currency. Philippine president Manuel A. Roxas is currently featured on the front side of the bill,while the Mayon Volcano and the whale shark are featured on the reverse side.
The Philippine five hundred-peso note (₱500) is a denomination of Philippine currency. Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and his wife,President Corazon Aquino are currently featured on the front side of the note,while the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park and the blue-naped parrot are featured on the reverse side. BSP will issue the polymer version of this denomination by 2023 and will be the second denomination in this format after the 1000-Piso polymer banknote issued last April 2022.

Gabriel dela Cruz Singson was a Filipino lawyer and banker,who served as the first Governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) from 1993 to 1999. He was the first Governor of the BSP after former President Fidel V. Ramos signed the Republic Act 7653,otherwise known as New Central Bank Act,into law in 1993.
