Ariel Borrero Alfonso (born January 1, 1972 in Santa Clara) is the starting first baseman for the Cuban national baseball team and for Villa Clara of the Cuban National Series.

In the 2005-06 Cuban National Series, the left-handed Borrero hit .346 to lead Villa Clara. [1] He led the league in doubles and triples in 1999-2000 and 2001, respectively. [2]

Borrero was the starting first baseman for Cuba at the 2006 World Baseball Classic.

He has won both silver and gold medals in the Olympic Games and also played catcher on Cuba's World Baseball Classic team in March 2006 and March 2009. In Cuba, Pestano plays with the Villa Clara Naranjas of the Cuban National Series.

José Abreu (baseball) Cuban baseball player

José Dariel Abreu Correa is a Cuban-born professional baseball first baseman for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played in the Cuban National Series for Cienfuegos before his defection in August 2013. After being granted free agency by MLB, Abreu signed with the White Sox in October 2013. Since 2013, Abreu has performed primarily as a first baseman, however he has also filled in at designated hitter for the White Sox.
