Assassin is a British thriller film directed by J. K. Amalou and starring Danny Dyer. [1] [2] The film was released straight to DVD without a cinematic release.
Hitman Jamie (Danny Dyer) has been hired to kill a man, a not unfamiliar prospect for him. However things grow complicated when he ends up falling for the daughter of his hit, especially after the deed is done and she begins to question who killed her father and why. This puts her in the path of John and Lee Alberts, the two gangsters that hired Jamie, requiring him to protect his new love while also trying to avoid the two brothers.
Filming began 9 September 2013 in London. [3]
Flickering Myth gave the film two stars, stating that it "will probably prove to be quite popular with those into their British crime movies as it looks pretty good with some stunning wide shots of London in various different lights, and for Danny Dyer it’s something of a step up from his usual performance and will hopefully be seen as a defining moment for him, but otherwise Assassin is a little bit too underwhelming in the areas where it should have been stronger." [4] Movie Talk panned Assassin, writing "Danny Dyer's hard man whizzes to and from his assignments on a high-powered motorbike, but this crashingly dull low-budget British crime thriller couldn't be more pedestrian." [5] Charlie Lyne of The Guardian wrote, "Dyer doesn’t so much go through the motions in the role as plead with the audience to save him the bother and recall the motions from last time." [6] Matt Glasby of Total Film rated it 3/5 and wrote that although it is not enough to rehabilitate Dyer's reputation, "anyone looking for po-faced, paunch-free action could do much worse". [7]

Danny Dyer is an English actor and presenter. Dyer's breakthrough role was as Moff in Human Traffic, with other notable roles as Mick Carter in EastEnders, Billy the Limpet in Mean Machine and as Tommy Johnson in The Football Factory. Following the success of The Football Factory, Dyer was often typecast in "hard-man" roles, although it was this image that allowed him to present The Real Football Factories, its spin-off, The Real Football Factories International and Danny Dyer's Deadliest Men. Mick Carter is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders played by Danny Dyer, making his first appearance in the show in the episode originally broadcast in the United Kingdom on 25 December 2013. Dyer's casting was announced on 1 October 2013 with that of his on-screen partner, Linda Carter, played by Kellie Bright. He is the son of established character Shirley Carter and is a member of the Carter family. Mick immediately becomes the new landlord of The Queen Victoria public house, bringing Linda, their son Johnny Carter and pet bulldog Lady Di with him. They are later joined by daughter Nancy Carter, son Lee Carter and other members of the extended family. In January 2022, it was announced that Dyer had quit the show after nine years in the role of Mick, and his final scenes aired on 25 December 2022.
